Landscaper - recommendations please
Thinking about getting the garden done in time for summer and would like some landscaping recommendations. There's a fair bit to do and would appreciate a company who can give suggestions and advice about the best way to go about sprucing it up.

Roofer for relatively small job
I’m looking for someone who can replace a garage/shed roof. It’s not a big job so I'm struggling to find someone who will 1) turn up to quote and 2) offer an alternative to fibreglass as that is very expensive and it’s really just a big shed so I don't want to spend £1000's on it. Thank you!

HI guys I am sure this has been asked before so forgive repetition but can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful decorator? Just looking for a couple of bathroom walls to be painted so don't need precision work but it is a bit fiddly and I can't be arsed to do it myself. I'm in the Clapham area. Any thoughts gratefully received!

Car theft & how to stop it. (Edited)
I saw on another site, there has been a spate of car theft in the area. Amazingly all new & expensive cars. This is apparently how they do it and how you can prevent it.
Thieves are probably using transmitting devices that pick up the signal from your own fob inside your house and boost it so your car thinks you are nearby. You can buy relatively cheap RFID blockers on Amazon specifically to prevent this type of theft.
Also parking car away from your house. -
Clapham: building a new community sports pitch
Hi - the parents at Heathbrook Primary School in Clapham are working hard to raise the final funds to build a community sports pitch.
This will bring a high quality all-weather sports pitch to an area with a real lack of facilities, for use by the school, community and all local sports teams! More details to follow on our exciting Festival of Sport on 23rd March!
In the meantime, I am running a marathon to raise funds for the pitch. Any donations much appreciated! Every penny will help build our community pitch!

Hello everyone,
We are looking for recommendations for reasonably priced garden designers who could help us with hard landscaping and even lay turf under our apple trees as we are not quite clued up enough to manage. Very grateful for advice, contacts etc x thank you! -
I'm looking for an independent financial adviser and was wondering if anyone here can recommend someone. Thank you.

I found this old picture of Clapham online, thought some of you might like to see! 😃 Apparently it was taken in 1903.

Hi all! So along with my neighbours we are aiming to host a street party on May 19th to 'celebrate' the Royal wedding (not really, just a good excuse for a party and more likely to get permission as other streets will be doing it). Anyway it turns out there is a handy 'how to' guide on Lambeth's website for those who live in the borough and want to do it. Thought I would share!

Is there anywhere local/in London that does archery? My son recently watched 'Brave' and is using everything he can get his hands on as a bow and arrow. Thought it would be nice to try it out in real life.

I'm looking for a tradesperson to fit a UPVC door and door frame if anyone knows a guy? Thanks.

This one is for you Claphamites - apparently the pond where some people currently do model boating is to be turned into a pedalo pond. It's about two feet wide! I have literally barely heard of anything so ridiculous, even from Lambeth Council!

Hi, I'm looking for a company to provide and install a burglar alarm. Can anyone recommend one? Thanks.

Quite cool seeing Scooploop mentioned in the Sunday Times Home section today - it was a big piece about new neighbourhood networks. Up there with some of the big boys (as it were!)

Carpet cleaner/advice to shift a stain (Edited)
Hello. I managed to spill nearly a full bottle of red all over my cream carpet last night and it has unfortunately left a nasty stain. I soaked the wine up and blotted the stain with cold water immediately and poured salt on it (as per Google's suggestions) to hoover up this morning. The stain is still there. So I'm thinking I'll need to call in a professional. Has anyone used one for a stain they can recommend? Had a look online and there's lots of options, just not sure which one to pick.

Have your say on Affordable Housing in Lambeth
I came across this online survey on Lambeth Council's website and thought it might be of interest to some.
"Our updated Local Plan needs policies to ensure developers provide the right type of affordable housing to meet local need. Complete the affordable housing survey.
This consultation is your chance to tell us what you think are the issues for the partial review of the Local Plan and how you think they should be tackled."
The affordable housing survey is on this page: https://www.snapsurveys.com/wh/s.asp?k=150159446461 however, the council have created separate surveys focusing on ten key topics they think need to be considered through the partial review (such as transport, business and jobs, waste etc.) You can find the additional surveys at the bottom of this page: https://www.lambeth.gov.uk/consultations/lambeth-local-plan-review-2017-affordable-housing -
Has anyone been to Winterville before? I'm trying to gauge what it will be like, as it is taking place on the Common this year. I assumed it would be like Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park but it seems quite adult-orientated from what I've read online. Can anyone shed any light on what to expect?

My dishwasher has broken down and I need someone to have a look at it. Have a feeling it might need to be replaced but I'd like someone to have a look at it first. I'd appreciate a recommendation, if you have any. Thanks.

HI y'all. Anyone got any good carpenters they can recommend? I am looking for someone to build a fitted wardrobe. I just got a quote from a local company in Clapham but it was scarily expensive and I think maybe a sole operator might be better. Thoughts?

I’m looking for a valued upholsterer to reupholster a set of 6 dining chairs. The chairs are well loved antiques but the material is wearing a little thin. Has anyone used one that they are happy to endorse?

Does anyone know anyone in the south London area who could make curtains? We are looking to put one across our drafty front door. Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

We're thinking about hiring a piano teacher and would like some recommendations while we're looking. The lessons would be for our 7 year old - she knows a little but is certainly still a beginner. We need someone who is proficient in teaching children and very patient. Flexible in terms of location but would prefer the teacher to visit our home in Clapham.

Could anybody recommend some good swimming lessons for 4/5 year olds in the sw4/11/12 area?
Preferably at weekends.
Thanks! -
Clapham Old Towners: Anyone tried this place yet - on the site of the old (terrible) Pavement cafe. Quite a hard site for a restaurant I think - not many tables upstairs and downstairs is pretty grim so be interested to see what becomes of it.

Anyone else received the flyer about the 'Winterville' festival on Clapham Common from November to January this year? I think there is to be a consultation about it. I have mixed feelings - kind of cool on the one hand but it will take over the common a bit and it will be a tip afterwards. What does everyone else think?

As most of you will know a murder occured on Tuesday in Wandsworth where a young man was stabbed and another one was stabbed by a gang a few days before in Battersea. Does anyone know if anyone has been arrested in relation to either? I can't believe this is happening so close to home. Very scary.

I've been going to pottery classes in Clapham for the last month or so as I decided I needed a hobby. I just want to recommend them to anyone who might be thinking of starting something new and different. http://www.claphampottery.co.uk/

Hi all, we are thinking of overhauling our garden in Clapham Old Town - maybe even going down the astroturf route. Does anyone know any decent garden companies? We are trying to avoid high end landscaping companies as they have prices to match. Any thoughts welcomed!

Could anyone recommend a good dry cleaner who picks up and delivers to the Clapham area?
