I used the NHS website to book my anti-Covid booster and had the jab at a local pharmacy yesterday. Meanwhile, I've also received a text invitation from a collective address called (I think) GPHubClinic every day this week, to book a booster at one of the local vaccination centres.
So there are two NHS-connected systems for getting the booster, which plainly don't liaise with one another. The steward at the pharmacy yesterday thought that the texts would stop after I'd had my booster jab because both systems are connected to the NHS, but it doesn't work that efficiently - I've just had yet another text!
If you've booked/had the booster via the NHS website and keep getting these texts, then the way to stop them is to follow the link provided in them, which will give you an option NOT to book your booster by that route and explain why. Otherwise, these redundant texts may continue for some time, which is maddening.

Not exactly being Green is it? (Edited)
The Green party leader of Brighton City council, Phelim McCafferty, flew to COP26 in Glasgow, because he thought trains to Glasgow might be cancelled, to lecture people about reducing carbon emissions. And to be seen next to Greta Thunberg.

Did you know that MPs are allowed to work for private companies as consultants? Some do this in addition to their actual job - representing their constituents. That means that time spent representing big businesses who pay them on top of their salary, could be spent lobbying on behalf of you - or your constituency. And the worst thing? It’s entirely within the current rules.
If the government’s attempt last week to take control over who scrutinises MPs behaviour has shown us anything, it’s that the rules over who has influence in our democracy need to be strengthened. And in the wake of the scandal, the committee that oversees MP behaviour is considering banning MPs from being paid to consult private companies.
The problem? Some government ministers think the general public don’t really care about the sleaze scandal. They’re hoping the scandal - and any rule changes as a result - can be swept under the rug and forgotten about.
That’s where we come in. We can prove them wrong. If hundreds of thousands of us sign an open letter today, it could help show that we, the public, want the rules changed - and give the powerful committee considering the ban, the public support it needs.

Background Noise on TV Documentaries.
My hearing is no longer that of a bat and for TV I wear a hearing aid.
No problem, except with every single documentary a continuous and aggravating background noise is imbedded into the program by the producers.
There is no reason for this at all, since most of the time people are only speaking. Sometimes elderly people with frail voices just sitting in their living rooms talking are completely drowned out by this noise.
The continuous noise completely masks both the hosts and participants voices and I just cannot hear them.
Almost every program becomes a nuisance and irritating to watch.
Why the producers ruin every single documentary with this stupid and unnecessary audio abuse is beyond my comprehension.
On occasions the background noise is so bad that I turn the sound off and rely on the subtitles IF there are any.
Over the years various organisations have made many official protests about this anti-social practice, but neither the program producers or the Government have taken no notice. -

Fourth jabs for immunocompromised people
I know that @Sandie is in this group but there might be others. Seems like there is confusion about third jabs and booster jabs. Some people should be getting 4 jabs. Hope the link works.

Boris will not be PM by this time next year.
Good news for the Tory old boys club!
They are now very happy.
Boris is showing how to work a way out of his job...
"Get it done!" was his manifesto.
Brexit accomplished, his severe limitations as a political leader are now obvious.
Even to him?
Will this Sleaze scandal see him off?
It's a big step on the way to the exit door.
In the smoke-filled clubs of St.James they are delighted current events have him cowering behind the sofa in his apartment decorated by rich friends [allegedly].
When will the Tory party will wheel in the candidate they really expect to win the next election?
An interesting time for UK politics in the coming year. This discussion is now closed.

Care worker sacked because of refusing jab (Edited)
I feel rather undecided about this. On the one hand, I can see that people with relatives in care homes/hospitals would want their relatives protected but even if she did have the vaccination she can still give it to others. I can't help feel it's really a case of getting the jabs and taking as many precautions as possible if you feel at risk.
Not sure how many staff the NHS/care homes can afford to lose.

Shocked Camilla ‘hasn’t stopped talking about’ hearing Joe Biden ‘break wind’ at Cop26 in Glasgow.
As she spoke with Mr Biden on Monday evening, it has been claimed that Camilla was surprised to hear the US president break wind, in an emission audible enough to make the duchess blush.
“It was long and loud and impossible to ignore,” the Mail on Sunday quoted a source as saying. “Camilla hasn't stopped talking about it.”

Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary cards etc.
I find it intensely annoying when I receive a card from friends and family with grown-up and adult children added.
When children are sufficiently grown-up, say over 16 they are more than capable of sending their own cards if they are able to do so.
In my case, these "children" are now in their 20's, 30's or even older !
None of them EVER contact me and some I have not even met. I find adding their names to my greeting card is excusive and irritating.
I know it is a general and traditional practice for particularly Mothers to do this, but I do wish they would realise that that their offspring are no longer children and should be left to send their own cards should they wish to do so. -

As I don't use streaming services, I only catch good US drama rather belatedly but the Freeview showing of the latest series of "The Good Fight" was well worth the wait.
I didn't notice it was back until this week, so had to catch up online (although even that wasn't nearly as tiresome as on my previous computer).
The first two episodes left me feeling almost as relieved as American friends must be at the change of regime in the White House, even with a pandemic thrown in. The reviewer seems to have liked the first four, which bodes well for my Thursday night viewing....

I know it's an old one but topical:
One day a florist went to a barber for a haircut. After the cut, he asked about his bill, and the barber replied, “I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.”
The florist was pleased and left the shop.
When the barber went to open his shop the next morning, there was a thank you card and a dozen roses waiting for him at his door.
Later, a policeman comes in for a haircut, and when he tries to pay his bill, the barber again replied, “I cannot accept money from you, I’m doing community service this week.”
The cop was happy and left the shop.
The next morning when the barber went to open up, there was a thank you card and a dozen donuts waiting for him at his door.
Then an MP came in for a haircut, and when he went to pay his bill, the barber again replied, “I can not accept money from you. I’m doing community service this week.”
The MP was very happy and left the shop.
The next morning, when the barber went to open up, there were a dozen MPs lined up waiting for a free haircut! -
