Been away from this site for quite a while have been in hospital for 8 weeks, was told 10 days to fortnight but ended up major op and one set back after another still not out of the woods, but god it feels good to be home, so hopefully contribute to scooploop again. So many planes coming over today, especially between 4-30-6.00 seemed every 5 mins one was coming over, when the airport opened there were only whisper jets coming out of there, but not anymore, I don’t suppose they give a toss, I’m not usually at home late afternoon so didn’t realise how noisy it was, sitting out in the garden reading my book proved impossible , perhaps a reduction in council tax is in order!!!

Well, like I said before, I think tax paying pensioners should have winter fuel allowance, tv license added to income to pay tax on. Then we got onto education, with some very interesting threads about how diverse our experience was.....from the same era... my husband was a no-hoper at school, he was made to say ,”thick things think thin thoughts” , in front of his class at school....he said ‘ fick fings fink fin forts”, this ‘loser’ went on to run a very successful business

I go past the stadium on the train and have noticed the main stand and restaurant have been demolished, has that just happened or have I just not been looking? I worked there for a couple of years way back, operating the photo finish up in the roof, my stint ended when I fell through the roof and into the bar!!!. Anyway I suppose they will build a new updated and more modern viewing area???

Apparently 85% of people asked would vote for it, a man flew out to Switzerland with his wife yesterday and was assisted to die, now the wife is worried the police are now involved simply because anybody who assists someone to die is breaking the law and can be sent to prison for a number of years. I doubt any more action will be taken against the wife, imagine the uproar!! The chap himself had motor neurone, a terrible disease and I know if I was struck down with that, or some other horrible thing, I would want to be able to make the decision to end my own life, simple as that, but until the law changes it will be a trip to Switzerland. What say you scooploopers??

Seems to be more and more in Romford, however who knows if they are genuine or not? Has anyone seen the bloke in the wheelchair who keeps shouting “will someone please help me” apparently he wants something to eat, but no good saying I’ll get you a sandwich, because he just wants the money. Does anyone else suffer from IBS, irritable bowel syndrome? Would be interested to know how it affects your life, I have bouts of it from time to time, but am suffering from it at this time, I don't take anything for it although there are things on the market that are supposed to help, would be interested to hear from anyone about their symptoms and treatments. I have done my best bubble ever, I cooked extra potatoes to go with all the left over veg, and cooked with a knob of butter mixed with olive oil. Boxing Day is cold meat, pickle, salad and bubble. The carcass has been boiled up and discarded, and meat and juices all ready to go for the turkey stew.

I was a child in the 50’s and I don’t remember mum wrapping turkey in foil. She used to put streaky bacon on the breast to keep it moist. I have also put streaky bacon on breast (well, the turkey) for the whole of my adult life, in spite of using foil for as long as I can remember. So how much streaky bacon have I wasted in 50 yrs?
