Tracking a new car from Factory to Dealership
When my brother ordered his new car the manager of the dealership was able to tell him exactly when it left the factory in Italy and which ship it was loaded on to in Maranello Port.
He was then able to track the ship using a website similar to the aircraft one flightradar24. The route it took wasn't what he was expecting, or rather the final destination of his car wasn't. it called into a port in France and stayed there 3 days. Then it called into Sheerness. As the Maserati dealership is in Tunbridge Wells, my brother called them to ask if the car had been unloaded ok. They said that's not where its being unljoaded. Then the ship went on to Hamburg before coming back to the UK to dock at Immingham. Which is where his car was unloaded and put onto a transporter for the journey south.

When two buses are cheaper than one
When going from Orpington (in the TFL zones) to Bluewater which is not.
I can take one bus, the 477, but as its an Arriva bus it costs about ÂŁ4 as they are not part of TFL
Or I can take the 51 to Footscray, then the 492 to Bluewater for a total of ÂŁ1.50 because both are TFL buses.
Crazy isn't it.
Greenredeem are trying to scare me
Greenredeem is linked to Thames Water and they monitor how much water is being used compared with prevous weeks and also compared with the average for the same size household.
Logged in and it says that last week I used 1255 litres of water which is 8 car washes and 16 baths more than average. I normally use 1193 litres which is still above the average for a 2 person household.
I don't believe these figures and think Greenredeem are trying to scare me into thinking I need to save even more water. But I can't see where I can save much more. This is what I use most weeks.
Washing machine once a week
Shower once a week, rest of the time I just wash. During the hotter weather shower daily.
washing up once a day, one bowl of water.
Don't water the garden, don't have a car to wash.
toilet gets flushed no more than half a dozen times a dau
Only put enough water in the kettle for the 2 cups of tea each time
Brush my teeth without water - one of the things they say saves 100s of litres everytime
BMW Franchise (Edited)
Iâm currently at my nearest BMW franchise. My BMW is almost a year old only. I had an âoil overfillâ alarm appear this morning. Phoned BMW at this location and told to bring it in. Great. Until they told me theyâll need to keep it for a minimum 12-14 hours!! Ok I say. Iâll have a courtesy car please, only to be informed they canât supply one at the moment, but if you want to bring the car back tomorrow afternoon, they can furnish a courtesy car. So I enquire, âso is it ok to drive my vehicle whilst this alarm is showing?â Their reply? âWe wonât know until we do a diagnostic check!â Doesnât instil much confidence in BMW Iâm afraid. Iâm now waiting for a friend to come and pick me up from the dealership!!

Nick the VIP paedophile ring fantasist has just got 18 years in jail
A "manipulative" and "devious" fantasist who invented a murderous Westminster VIP paedophile ring has been jailed for 18 years.
Carl Beech, once only known in media reports as "Nick", was convicted of 12 counts of perverting the course of justice and one of fraud.
Beech made the claims of a Westminster VIP paedophile ring dating back to the 1970s and 1980s.
The Metropolitan Police investigated his allegations, raiding homes and interviewing alleged suspects - but the ÂŁ2 million Operation Midland ended without making a single arrest.
Northumbria Police was later tasked with investigating his claims.
Beech's malicious deceit ruined the reputations of those he accused and led the Metropolitan Police to raid the homes of 91-year-old Normandy veteran Field Marshall Lord Bramall - the late Lord Brittan - and former Tory MP Harvey Proctor.
Mr Proctor blasted the force, calling the episode "a truly disgraceful chapter in the history of British policing".

At the end of my garden today, minus my mobile, I noticed a beautiful butterfly. Rushed to get my mobile, but on my return, the butterfly had gone. Would have loved to have taken a photo of it. I could remember itâs markings so looked the type up and found that it was a âpeacock butterflyâ. Iâd never seen one before. It was so beautiful. I went through all the types of butterflies and found a photo. Here it is.
Although not someone Iâd ever vote for, it seems Boris means âbusiness â. He has brought in Eurosceptics/Brexiters to his cabinet. Roll on 31st October.
Nextdoor was featured on You and Yours on Radio 4 today. There have been complaints (and there must have been a lot for it to feature in the programme) concerning Nextdoor issuing letters from neighbours recommending Nextdoor. The neighbours know nothing about it and, despite claims from Nextdoor to the contrary, some have not given permission for the letters to be issued. If you receive a letter that looks as though your neighbour has printed it at home and saying how wonderful Nextdoor is, don't believe it.
Saga don't appear to be the best insurance company
This is from a letter written to the personal finance problems page in the paper.
The writer says that his car windscreen is smashed so he contacts his insurers, Saga. They give him the name of their approved windscreen repair company. He phones them but they can't come for over a week. The man thinks, that leaves my car unsecured and therefore not insured against theft. So he decides to call in a local company who fix his windscreen in a few hours.
The man sends the invoice for ÂŁ550 to Saga with a letter explaining why he hadn't used one of their approved companies. Saga sent him a cheque for only ÂŁ100. When he asked why they hadn't paid the full amount, they said ÂŁ100 is the maximum they payout for windscreen repairs.
What are your thoughts on people that move abroad but come back to UK soon as they need a hospital?
This came into my mind afer reading a letter from a couple who moved to Cyprus having taken early retirement in their 50s.
They were clearly well off as they found a reputable builder and had a large villa built with enough bedrooms for the family to visit.
Moving on 12 years they decided to move back to the UK as they were now elderly and didn't think the Cypriot health system is good enough to look after their needs. I think if you move abroad you have to accept some things are not as good as you are used to, but you just have to get used to it and get on with life. Don't look for any excuse to come home.
They decided to sell up and needed to get the full deeds to the property as they only had a basic deeds saying this is your house. The full deeds revealed that a 3 metre strip of land still belonged to the developer, who had now gone bankrupt. Worse was to come. A surveyor turned up with his theodolite and told them that 70 meters of their garden including the swimming pool was actually in Turkish Cyprus. The real owner of that land had died and all know relatives had died.
The couple have been told they are not allowed to sell the villa, or even rent it out.
I just came across a photo of this. This is the description accompanying the photo. Would you want to drive over it? After the experience I had driving to Key West in a tropical storm I certainly wouldn't fancy it!
This ambitious construction project in China connects three major cities (Hong Kong, Macau and Zhuhai) on the Pearl River Delta. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) includes three cable bridges and a tunnel â similar to the Channel Tunnel between England and France â that takes commuters below the deltaâs waters. The HZMB is currently the worldâs longest sea-crossing bridge, with a combined length of more than 34 miles. Originally set to open in 2016, it was finally completed and open to traffic in October 2018. Would you take a ride through the tunnel under the waters of the Pearl River Delta?
Cricket final - wow what a finish
Two crucial moments in the last few overs that changed the game in Englands favour.
Stokes being caught but then Boult stepping on the ropes so it scored a six.
Then the inspired decision to dive as a throw came in to deflect the ball for a boundary. That was never accidental.
First time this has ever happened.

Stay healthy - eat nothing, drink nothing.
Isn't it funny how all those things that were good for us when we were kids, the scientists are now telling us are out to get us. Bacon, eggs, bananas, rice, sugar, salt, milk, cheese, Brazil nuts, butter, fizzy drinks, the list is almost endless. Now they're telling us that orange juice is no good for us either, at least the French are, who I guess don't produce a huge amount of orange juice. Even the good things have plastic in them which is going to kill us. With all these harmful foodstuffs around it's a wonder there's anyone left alive.
Then we have the politicians telling us that we've got to carry on working extra years for a meagre state pension because everyone is living longer.
So who's kidding who ?
There was a message on Orpington Gossip facebook group. A mother was asking where was the cheapest place to get her 9 week old daughters ears pierced?
I think that's way too young, what do you think?
For me the right age would be when the daughter asks her mum, "can I get my ears pierced". And even then the mum could say, "thnk you are a bit too young, wait a bit longer"
My new favourite is Peanut Butter flavour.
Was in Sainsburys the other day and fancied getting a tub of ice cream. Looked inside the freezer cabinets and spotted Judes peanut butter flavour and thought sounds yummy.
Tried it and it is really good. Looks like a vanilla but with the peanut butter taste. Also there are pieces of frozen real peanut butter which add to the taste experience. Also it is British produced.
Went back to the shop for more but they had sold out. So picked up another brand called Halo Top. Still nice but nothing like Judes. It's more of a chocolate flavour with hints of peanut but when you have the right mouthful.
Also when I looked on the tub it is made in the USA and imported by Halo Top UK ltd.
So what is your favourite ice cream flavour and brand?
Saw this on CNN last night. An Asian couple having IVF had 2 embryos implanted into the mother. She gave birth to twins that didn't look Asian. She asked for a DNA test and the results were, they were not her babies and also they were not related to each other. Also the clinic didn't know where the mothers embryos are.

Glastonbury and Plastic Bottle Use
Apparently, the decision for this year's Glastonbury Festival to ban the use of unnecessary plastic was a success. I hope other major events will follow suit, eg, Wimbledon, other rock festivals, flower shows, etc.
Should trans women be allowed to compete in women's sports?
Sharron Davies) and Martina Navratilova have both been trolled online for saying that trans women, that's men that have tranitioned to women or just identify as female, shouldn't be allowed to compete against real women. This is because they still have the advantage of male attributes that makes them faster and stronger.
What do you think?

'Can I get my own breakfast?' said my ten year old granddaughter.
'Of course' I said 'As long as it isn't a bowl of peanut butter, like last time'.
'Can you cut the toast into fingers for me?' I noticed she had a pot of Houmous, so no problem.
By the time I came back from getting dressed, she had:
A jar of Nutella
A spoon
and a glass of water!
'Afters!' she said.
(and she's as thin as a rake).

Nick aka Carl Beech becoming a laughing stock
Was on tv news tonight. He is in court accused of perverting the course of justice and being a fantasist. He is still claiming he was abused by Jimmy Savile and the vip paedophile ring.
Must be hard for the jury not to laugh at him.

Someone in Orpington Sainsburys has lost the co-operation of the rest of the staff. He is the guy who often makes the announcements like "can all till trained staff come to the front end post". Usually because there is a queure building at the only till that is open.
I reckon he has done or said something to upset the girls as on two occassions now he has made that announcement and been ignored.

Do you remember the Suzy Lamplugh disappearence?
This just came in to my news feed.
Police have begun digging up a field in search for missing estate agent Suzy Lamplugh who vanished in 1986.
Police vans were reported in a layby off the A44 just outside Pershore, Worcestershire.
Suzy Lamplugh went missing in July 1986 in Fulham, London.
In 1944, she was declared dead and presumed murdered.
The last clue to Lamplugh's whereabouts was an appointment to show a house in Shorrolds Road to someone she referred to as "Mr Kipper".
Can you identify the well-known song that contains the lyrics:
"You might refuse to stay. And so the best that I can do is pray"?
Report Score - money thieving scammers (Edited)
My sister was checking her online banking account yesterday and noticed a debit of ÂŁ31.99 with the name ReportScore.co.uk next to it. She looked up their website and it was nothing she recognised and is totally sure she hadn't signed up for anything like their service.
She tried to send them an email to ask for a refund and cancel any more payments. The sending failed saying it was spam.
I said to her, go into the bank tell them what happened and get them to stop the direct debit as the website says its ÂŁ31.99 per month. Well the lady in the bank knew exactly who my sister was talking about. So much that she got ushered into a room to talk to a member of the fraud team. He asked her if she had been looking at any payday loan websites. She said she had looked at QuickQuid just out of curiosity to see how much it would cost, but had not taken out a loan. He said QuickQuid use ReportScore to do their credit checks and also sell your information to them to sign you up to their monthly payment scheme.

An eventful holiday for the wrong reasons
My nephew has recently come back from a holiday in Tenerife. They had a lovely time most of the time, but there was a few things that went wrong.
He has been on holiday abroad before, with me when he was a teenager, and more recently with his giirlfriend. But this was the first time to be him, his pregnant girlfriend and a one year old son.
Firstly a minor hiccup on the day of departure. His girlfriend suddenly remembered she has a medical condition, something to do with high phosphate levels in the blood. I said I'd call Insure&go and get it added to their policy. Jobworth said, can't do that, you have to cancel then buy new insurance and pick from the list of medical conditions. It wasn't listed, so that was time wasted. emailed new policy to nephew.
Flight went well, got coach transfer to Adeje, walked into hotel reception with luggage, nephew suddenly realised he had left his manbag on the coach. It contained hotel vouchers, their passports, their money and his girlfriends Iphone. The receptionist phoned the transfer company and they contacted the driver who had seen the bag and kept it safe. Nephew had to take taxi to the airport to collect it. 50 Euros each way.
A few days before the end of the holiday his girlfirend got a urine infection similar to what she had with her first baby. So it was off to the hospital. Taxi to them to the nearest private hospital where they asked for 200 Euros before doing anything. They decided to go to the public hospital instead. There he was not allowed to be in the room with his girlfriend and had to wait outside.
On the plane home she still felt unwell and when the plane landed at Gatwick at 23.55 they went straight to their local hospital in Medway. Finally getting home at 4am. But they had to get up again 7am as she had an appointment for a scan.
Anyone else got any holiday stories good or bad?
Who was the executed British nurse who claimed that "patriotism is not enough" ?

Went to watch, ended up taking part
A friend that me and dad often meet for coffee is a regular churchgoer. Last week she handed us a leaflet about a Cultural Carnival organised by her church happening today. The leaflet said there would be a parade at 9.30 this morning starting at the end of the road the church entrance is in.
so we got there with minutes to spare expecting to see participants liniing up ready to start marching, but instead there was a group of about 20 people standing around chatting. One lady asked, "are you here for the parade? we are still waiting for the band to turn up".
Then the band turned up, a 3 piece Afro-Caribbean ensemble of trumpet, drum and something else (I forget) At the same time three members of the clergy arrived including the vicar and the Bishop of Rochester.
The Vicar said which way the parade would go so as to go past most houses and annoy most people. They asked the band to lead the way, and obvioiusly had told them what hymn to play. And the parade started.
Thought it would be more embarrasing for just me and dad to say, we're not taking part just watching, when there was nobody else watching. So we decided to tag along near the back.
The band played and the clergy bringing up the rear right behind us lead the singing of "We're marching in the name of God, marching in the name of God". Halfway along the road, one of the women came to the back to tell them, the band had changed its tune to When the Saints go Marching in.
We left the parade when it got to the church and made our way to the High Street.
