Open Loop 191
3 dots & can't comment on a thread
Some of these are coming up to the left of peoples names on comments
When i tried to post a comment on one of my own threads it just kept taking me back to my profile.
This discussion is now closed.
The members list on each group being either alphabetical or by date of joining now may be a good idea, however I feel it would be better if the moderators name still be at the top, as it is for the Scooploop support. Will the team consider this improvement?
Emoji or not (Edited)
Afternoon everyone.
We are looking to put together some changes to make Scooploop more user friendly, interactive and fun. As always, we would love your input and thoughts please.
Currently when a user creates a post you have three options, you can:
1. Comment
2. 'Upvote'
3. 'Click Helpful'
We are looking to change this up a little, to make this process more interactive and fun for everyone here in the community.
What are your thoughts on the current system? Is the 'helpful' helpful?
Could emojis offer a more varied reaction to a users post than an 'upvote'?
We cant wait to hear all your suggestions. Be as innovative and creative as you like, we're open to every idea; the more fun and individual the better!

I have clicked on 'stop following' for a couple of threads but still keep getting them come up in my notifications.
Can you please sort out the problem with this - can't see other comments or mark as read.
Quick comment on the latest poll (Edited)
The latest poll in Community Support group has ended, I wanted to quickly comment on it, but it seems the support already closed it.
Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone who participated. Bigger number of votes would have given me/us a better picture but still it's good.
For me personally the most important result is 22% of the votes on "The website or user app often loads too slowly or has too many bugs". Making the site load faster is now a top-priority thing for next weeks for the tech team.
One surprising thing is that no-one voted on "I get far too many notifications". I was suspecting quite a few votes as this is something I would have voted for. Before, we planned on upgrading how notifications are grouped and a few other changes, but thanks to this poll this will surely be postponed now. So yes, every vote counts. Have a good evening.
When I type a list on messenger I cannot scroll up to check what I have written - the camera icon is in the way.
I'm being pestered in my pm box by a IndahAgarn. I have tried to delete but it has returned twice now, can I do anything else?
Android app notification bug (Edited)
Summary: notification takes you to incomplete thread.
Today I followed an Android notification to a comment on a group thread I had previously contributed to. I immediately replied to that comment, but on refreshing, discovered that about five further comments had been made in the meantime. (I don't mean added while I was writing, they had already been posted, but were not displayed.) Following another Android notification to the same thread, I found the same problem. The comment to which the notification applied appeared as the last comment in the thread, with subsequent comments (such as the one I had just written) hidden from view.
The behaviour I expect is to be taken to the specific comment, but viewed within the entire thread -- ie I should be able to see any comments posted subsequently so that I know the discussion has moved on.
[Update: appears to happen on iPhone app too (see comment below). Don't know about website.]
I do not get notifications for any messages on my Fire tablet and there is no message symbol to click on, I have to go to my profile to see if I have any.
I have mentioned this before.
Pages - a new feature (Edited)
As you might have noticed, we introduced a new feature called "Pages". You can see there is a new widget on main page right-hand sidebar called "Suggested Pages to Follow".
The feature is still in its infancy, therefore we kind of keep it under the radar for now.
What are Pages?
Anyone can request to run a page on any subject. Pages are run anonymously. Page can collect followers. Followers will get notification when a page posts something.
That's pretty much the summary.
If you have any more questions, please ask or simply follow a few pages we have and see for yourself.
Last poll "When a user creates a thread" - conslusions. (Edited)
OK, so first I wanted to thank everyone for participating.
What we've decided is that we will give the user the option to remove only the contents of the initial post, without destroying the whole discussion (whole thread) - simple as that. Should this happen, the post will read "Content of this post was removed by its author" or something of this sort.
On a bit different, more negative note, I wanted to say I will be suspending users who sidetrack the conversation from my group here. I'm sorry, but as much I love to read about your personal disagreements, my primary job is to actually code those things we discuss with my team, not to read into reports. I'm running this group myself to be able to more quickly cut to the chase of the problem, that's all.
Either way, I'm hoping I can count on you for next polls to come, and there will be many more interesting ones.
I'm finding the number of comments deleted are making some posts incomprehensible.
Is it possible to challenge the moderators reason for deleting if you think it unfair?
How does one leave ScoopLoop completely?
I suggested ScoopLoop to a solitary acquaintance, thinking that she might enjoy it, but her initial experience has been dreadful and she wants to leave the site - but can't find out how to do so. Nor can I, either directly or by using the site's overall search facility.
So how does one unsubscribe completely from ScoopLoop - and why isn't it clearly signposted?
On the laptop I have 4 things at the top to click on, Local, groups. messages and notifications but on the tablet the messages option is missing, i have to go to my profile to look for it.
Hi,
we've been seeing some spammers abusing open groups. Just wanted to remind the moderators that `remove user` or `suspend user` options work the same way as in private groups. Meaning, if you remove or suspend the user there is no way they can post again.
On this note, maybe we need another group type, i.e. users could view the contents but have to be approved to join? Tell me what you think please.
Hi, we've just published some changes that should load your posts faster (esp. main feed, group feeds). It affects both desktop and the app. We've tested all major functionalities, but having said that, please report any unexpected side effects should you encounter. Thanks
I would like to report that I have had 2 scams in my private messages box. I haven't responded to either, should I just ignore? John H said I should report them to you.
Notifications (Edited)
When I logged in today, my notifications are from 1 day, 5 hours ago. I doubt that nobody has posted since, so they seem to be 'stuck'. Is it just me?
Although I left MSLCHAT a while ago, I am still receiving notifications from the group. I cannot reply as I am not a member now and it is a private group.
Can this be stopped please.
Changes to Blocking Feature (Edited)
As discussed on other occasion and requested by users, we've implemented a few more "improvements" to the blocking feature. Blocking will now pretty much mean to "make myself almost invisible" to the blocked user and vice versa.
I don't want to list exactly what we've covered, but it safe to say the blocker should be out of sight of the blocked person, no notifications or comments/posts should be visible for both of them .
There is one major exception to this feature, though. If the blocking happens between member and moderator of the same group, they will still see each others posts. It's for the simple fact that if either of them can't stand each other they should not be in the same group.
The app will catch up shortly after.
I can't really say "happy blocking" but If you do need to block someone and you still think there is something missing, a bug or a glitch, please let us know.
Some changes were introduced to the Follow feature, which are:
- You can choose now between private and public type of account (check settings page or Friends/Followers page's sidebar).
- Private type of account lets you control your followers list
- You can switch between private/public account with no limitation at any time
- You can now post to followers only (see main posting form)
These changes are still fresh, some glitches might happen. If they do please report.
The app will catch up shortly.
FYI, improvements for blocking feature are next to happen, hopefully this week.
I haven't had any email notifications today - I haven't changed my settings and was getting them okay last night,
received post from group I don't belong to
Is this normal? I was surprised to receive this one from the community group as I checked and i really have not joined this group.
We've made some changes to local section. Those include:
1. You can now choose from how far you want to get local post notifications (see Notification Settings).
2. Users often get notifications about local business offers. We consider that mostly spam as it's not how a neighbour would act. That will be limited now, posts from new users will be moderated till they gain some Scooploop reputation (being active in groups, having friends, collecting points for posts is what defines an active user).
Little note for businesses: if you do want to tell others about your business on local section, do it like a neighbour would do, make it personal. Otherwise please use business post feature on your business section.
I have left MSLCHAT but afterwards tried to delete the notifications, obviously I have not done so. How can I delete their notifications now I have left.
This discussion is now closed.
Notification dropdown - new logic (Edited)
As suggested by many users in a thread down below, the notification dropdown now gives higher priority to unread messages. Let's see how everyone feels about this new logic and if there is any side effect, then we tweak it some more. The main notification page is intact for now.
Although I am able to see the list of members in Anything group, I cannot access the list of members in my own group MSLCHAT. Is there a reason for this? Can it be rectified please, I use an iPad.Thanks
In portrait the writing has gone downwards instead of across - including trying to write a comment.
Another glitch - or is it the new thing ?
https://www.scooploop.com/thread/another-glitch-or-is-it-the-new-thing
There are plenty of usability issues with the latest app, especially in regards to refreshing the contents - I'm very sorry for that. They should be fixed in the next release.
Comment langth 2,000 characters
Last night I tried, numerous times, to submit a comment.
Granted it was pretty long, but when I hit "Submit" it came up telling me there was a 2,000 char max for comments. I copied it out of Scooploop and dropped it into Microsoft Word to count the characters. The result was 1,909. I had 91 clear characters and yet I had to edit downwards to submit my comment, which changed the context!
This left me not knowing how far I needed to reduce my comment to be able to submit it.
Eventually after reducing my text, yet trying to keep context, I managed to submit my comment.
1) Could you tell me what the difference is between your count and Word (for example spaces).
2) is it possible to add a char count so that we know the extent of editing required?
3) is there any way to submit a comment and have a tick box to be able to submit a second comment to appear contiguous to the first, without other people submitting comments in between? (Perhaps holding the first comment in abeyance, until the continuation is submitted?)
New feature : sending images over the messenger
Hi,
we've just implemented a new feature - sending images over scooploop messenger.
There are still some UX issues (not everything works super smoothly), but we've decided to give it a go as is.
Access to the images is technically bound only to the sender and the receiver of a message - as far as we've tested this works well. But of course, there might be some loopholes and bugs - if you spot anything, please send us feedback immediately.
As for the apps, the feature is available from version `1.14.10` - please update them.
They are already available both on android and iOS. It's actually the whole fun to quickly from your phone to a friend - so really recommended for the apps especially.
The image uploader might look a bit clumsy for now, but it will get better and better.
Happy sending.
New support group for non-technical issues (Edited)
Everyone is invited to join our newly-created group for non-technical issues.
https://www.scooploop.com/groups/scooploop-community-support
Hi All,
we would like to remind everyone Scooploop encourages a positive, upbeat and helpful community.
Lately we've been observing a lot of negativity towards other members of the website, esp. within groups.
This is something we cannot allow to happen.
We want Scooploop to become a platform where users can feel comfortable and not threatened by anyone.
We want to send nothing but positive message towards newcomers, as well.
Therefore, we will be imposing stricter rules and monitoring the situation more actively, especially in OPEN groups.
There will be introduced a 3-strike system for violating Scooploop policies, including expelling users for good.
More on this to come in upcoming weeks.
We want also to bring up the matter of users creating multiple accounts (so called aliases).
Although aliases can be harmless at times, it is obviously not a good practice - we will be looking more closely on how
to deal with this problem. Nonetheless, any obvious aliases with be removed instantly, with no warning.
Moderators are reminded they are in charge to dealing with negative comments more actively.
In case the issue persists, they will face loosing their moderator status, the group might be taken over by us
or by a respected member of our community or the group might be downgraded from open to closed.
Have a good day!
Scooploop Team

It seems some of you may have just received daily email with irrelevant threads and comments - that was an error on our side. Apologies for that - it definitely wasn't an attempt to spam your mailbox. Have a good night!
New Local Section (Edited)
Hi all, as you may have noticed, we've created a separate local area with posts related only to your neighbourhood - hope you'll like it.
There is much more to come for that section too.
Your News Feed (the default feed you see when you log in) will hold any posts that may be of interest to you, including both group posts, local posts and a few other types of discussions.
For app user: app should pick up these new features shortly too.
All the best.
As a moderator, I am often asked to delete old posts or threads that have been closed by the original poster. My options, when giving the reason, are limited so I often put other. Can we have another option, such as suggested by a member, of ‘Thread Dormant‘ please. Members are confused when they see ‘other‘ as it means little to them.
