Based on a real road rage Incident, consequences of unexpressed rage and stress. A black comedy brilliantly done. Couldn't stop watching episode after episode.
-
I never thought of the comedian Aisling Bea as an actress but in this film she is the star, alongside flashbacks with her ‘fiancée’ who passes away early in the film. Played by Colin Lewes Hanks, eldest son of Tom.
The storyline didn’t sound great as Aisling plans to continue with plans to ‘marry’ her partner even though he has suddenly died
As the film progressed, apart from some bad language, the story becomes more interesting and by the end we were reaching for tissues, after laughing at the silliness of a lot of it.
Quite endearing, sad and in places even romantic -
Don't miss this catfish documentary - Stick with it - You won't be disappointed.
-
Thoroughly enjoyed this film last night. Must admit I have loved most of Tom Hanks films.
-
It is on ITV 10.45pm tonight. Joaquin Phoenix wow, what a performance a well deserved Oscar. It is not a sci-fi superhero movie, It is an Interesting insight of the decline to Insanity. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
-
Just watched - great true story about industrial contamination - well worth watching.
-
Currently showing on ITVx, Joan is the true story of jewel thief Joan Harrington.
Her partner in crime is dodgy antiques dealer Boysie.
It wouldn't surprise me if he was the inspiration for Boycie in Only Fools and Horses. -
I am sitting watching this wonderful film showing on BBC 2 and expect it will be on the Iplayer straight after

The Adam Project (Netflix) 2022
I would not usually look at a film that says it’s sci fi but I am so glad that I did this time.
Touching, thrilling, fast paced, heart rending. I think I will watch this over again and again, like I did all those years ago with ET.
Time travel with a boy visited by his grown self (Ryan Reynolds) an extraordinary action packed adventure. Outstanding
Highly recommend -
Netflix . Starring Olivia Colman
Comedy/drama
Was a bit dubious about watching this as some reviews said it was slow but I found the pace very reassuring, giving enough time to fully understand how a female solicitor with a newborn baby , that she plans to give to her sister, meets up with a motherless boy with a crook of a father and how they set off on an adventure together. As always Olivia Colman is brilliant and I would recommend this. Without giving too much more of the story away. Give it a try. -
Watched this film for the second time. Based on a true story. I had forgotten just how moving and emotional it is. Charlize Theron excels, with a well deserved Oscar.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ -
Benedict Cumberbatch plays Greville Wynne, in a really good spy movie about the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.
Worth 2 hours of your time. -
The Nanny diaries (Edited)
I can’t understand why I had never seen this before. On film 4 yesterday evening .
A college graduate ends up working as a nanny, a job she thinks will be easy but it’s not as it seems
Very touching in some ways but also quite funny . Even my husband liked it and it’s definitely not his usual genre. Sweet , even romantic in places. Scarlet Johanson stars -
Watched this last night on Netflix, one of the best films I've seen:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2361509/?ref_=tt_urv -
Channel 4 8/724 10:00 PM. Tonight is the third series. Enjoyed the first two. Worth catching up the first two, before seeing the third. Dramatic funny and with a good cast.

FilmFour 9pm tonight 2021
A seemingly mild mannered , quiet family man shows his true character after his house is burgled . -
Follow GI Hun on his journey. this story is Based in South Korea with subtitles. I thought this was some sort of reality game when I saw the previews on google box. It looked interesting so I thought I would give it go. It will take your breath away. I was obsessed from start to finish. Follow Seong Gi-hun also referred to as Player 456, is the main protagonist of the Netflix series Squid Game. Gi-hun is a divorced and indebted chauffeur, former assembly worker, and an obsessed gambler. He is invited to play a series of children's games, the Squid Game, for a chance at a large cash Only these are not child friendly. They are playing for their lives. This is an emotional rollercoaster as you grow to love some of the characters and it is a heartbreaking, thrilling, edge of your seat journey from start to finish.

The Outfit (Edited)
Only on Netflix until 10th August
I wouldn’t have noticed this film if they hadn’t been removing it.
A masterpiece - Mark Rylance at his very best.. sharp, superbly plotted, full of clever twists.
The notes said a meticulously crafted thriller.
A Tailor (cutter) from Saville Row has a lot going on around him, that he doesn’t know or understand - or does he! -
Bad sisters is really good. It focuses on one sister in a very domineering relationship, and her other four siblings being recruited to try and knock him off. It has a comical element as various things they try do not work and follows the stories of the siblings so you get to know each individual character. Would loved to know if anyone has seen and what you thought.

In some reviews it says it’s about a professional hitman but it’s actually a man that finds he is good at acting as if he is a hitman to help the police catch people who are trying to arrange to have another person killed.
Had never heard of it until last night but I am sure it’s going to be one of Netflix’s big hits.
Almost two hours long, the time flew by, it’s funny, ironic and basically a love story it’s also silly and a bit ridiculous but we loved it.
Has anyone else watched it?
If not give it a go. There are great twists and turns in it, especially towards the end -
Still: A Micheal j fox movie such an interesting docudrama on Apple TV about his life pushing through while having Parkinson’s . I had no idea that he hid it from everyone and kept working while bringing up a young family at such a young age such an inspiring man with such a lovely supportive family.

Available now on Netflix
A Ken Loach film (possibly his last)
Based in 2016 in a former mining town in Northern England rifts start to form with the arrival of refugees from war torn Syria. The families filling up houses that have lain empty for some time.
The Kindly landlord of the run down pub takes the brunt of locals anger, biased and racist attitudes for his friendship with Yara who arrives with her family and her camera.
As always Loach’s down to earth approach, honesty and sometimes grim detail is realistic, at times heartwarming, at other times heartbreaking.
Our opinion (family) Beautiful, endearing, sad, touching - don’t miss it -
This film was on BBC 2 yesterday and is now on the Iplayer.
Billed as a crime drama I felt it was so much more. Whilst the family say it is not accurate and there are many changes and inaccuracies to what happened in real life. It is based on a true story.
Lady Gaga in the starring role alongside Adam Driver was superb throughout and I enjoy a film where I learn something from it.
I would recommend watching it but reading the true story as well. In the film they forget the couple had two children. 👧🏻 -
I know this an old film but a beautiful one (1941) if you love old films, which I do. You will need a big box of tissues!
Edna Gladney lost her son when he was very young. By chance she discovered the injustice within the law towards children whose parents are unknown, and decided to open an orphanage for these children, despite the stigma. She fought against the unfair laws that discriminated against children born out of wedlock. -
I loved this film called 'The Last Bus' with Timothy Spall, such a very fine Actor.
Shows how love conquers all and true love never dies.
I watched it on BBC I player. -
The Electrical life of Louis Wain (2021) now on Netflix (Edited)
Starring Benedict Cumberbatch ( with a prosthetic nose) and Claire Foy and featuring a host of stars from Toby Jones, Taika Waititi, Sharon Rooney, Nick Cave and Richard Ayoade to Adele Akhtar, Asim Chaudhry and Siobhan McSweeney
Based on and apparently very close to the extraordinary true life story of the British ‘cat artist’ Louis Wain.
You’ll either love it or loathe it according to critics . Depends on, maybe your heart ❤️
Rotten tomatoes reviews are interesting
I found it a charming study of an incredible life, beautifully shot, romantic, tragic and well worth getting engrossed in. -
Dream horse (Edited)
On channel 4 last night and now available on their Iplayer
https://amp.theguardian.com/film/2021/jun/03/dream-horse-review-true-story-welsh-village-bought-a-racehorse-is-a-winner
Down to earth British film
Please don’t forget to watch the section after the titles - bit of fun and a surprise appearance at the end of if too! -
Christmas films are back on this Channel in the afternoons 🎅🎄⛄🎇
My favourite is Mrs Miracle which is on on Sunday at 1.50, enjoy everyone 😆 -
Till
It is based on the true story of Mamie Till-Bradley, an educator and activist who pursued justice after the murder of her 14-year-old son Emmett in August 1955. -
Glenda Jackson’s final film before she passed away and Michael Cairn’s final as he retires
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt14124080/
It looks like a real tearjerker and I look forward to seeing it -
Starring Vanessa Redgrave
Christopher Waltz and Annette Bening
Based on a true story. I found it more interesting than the average crime drama.
The eccentric younger husband of a wealthy well connected lady is investigated after his wife is found dead.
The film charts how they meet, their marriage and particularly the ‘background’ the younger husband appears to have !
Enjoyed it and would recommend -
Mad Men (Edited)
Maybe one of the best TV Shows I have ever watched. Originally aired between 2007 and 2015. The story follows a group of people involved in an advertisement agency in New York over a decade between 1960 and 1970. Can totally recommend.

2021 a Comedy drama on Netflix
A young woman (Aubrey Plaza) having inherited her Father’s publishing house finds its in trouble and seeks the help of a bad tempered but legendary old author (Michael Caine)
Worth watching until the very last scene
Brought tears to my eyes 👀 -
23 Walks - 2020 available on Netflix (Edited)
‘Dog lovers follow the path to romance’
Starring David Johns and Alison Steadman
A couple meet whilst walking their dogs and take 23 walks together over year.
A slow but steadily building story of secrets, sadness, trauma and love.
Beautiful, touching and heart rending. The dogs were great actors
David Johns was magnificent -
In this intimate exploration of identity, trauma and power, a young woman seeks out her birth mother, inadvertently triggering a string of events which change both their lives. Starring Ann Skelly, Orla Brady and Aidan Gillen.
This is a beautiful film that resonated with me as I was an adopted child who longed to know where I came from.
I watched it on Prime Netflix tonight -
Not sure if I should recommend this Netflix film really, I watched it behind a cushion! Definitely don't watch it if you don't like heights!
-
It's getting colder outside, either record this film to watch next week or snuggle up with a hot drink on your sofa and watch this wonderful 1965 film, one of James Stewart's best. An American Civil War Western......11.am on Film4 Channel.
I shall be recording it. -
We have a Ghost - Netflix 2023
‘ The discovery that their house is haunted by a ghost named Ernest makes Kevin's family a social media sensation. But when Kevin and Ernest get to the bottom of the mystery of Ernest's past, they become targets of the CIA’
Just over 2 hours long. I expected this film to be a bit like Casper or even Ghostbusters (the investigators guns were) but it was a total surprise and we loved it. As the youngest son befriends the ghost and the story gradually unfolds we were routing for ‘Ernest’ but is he what it appears?
A sad tale transpires and by the end surprisingly both my husband and I were reaching for the tissues. I can understand why this film , based on the book and directed by Michael Landon’s son Christopher, is no 1 in Netflix’s film this week.
It’s sweet, clever and touching and in places funny too -
I started to re-watch some random Columbo Episodes from the 70s. Still funny as hell, though the quality various between episodes. Anyone else here remembering it?
(To be fair I didn't watch it in the 70s originally but much later) -
More football tonight so I watched this beautiful true story film
A married woman realizes how unhappy her marriage really is, and that her life needs to go in a different direction. After a painful divorce, she takes off on a round-the-world journey to "find herself". -
Very good film that I have just finished watching starring Sandra Bullock
Ruth Slater, a woman released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime and attempts to re-enter society. She must try to put her life back together again in a world that refuses to forgive her past. -
Film Stars don't die in Liverpool
based on the true story of Peter Turner, a struggling Liverpool actor who, in 1978, met and began a passionate relationship with the eccentric American actress Gloria Grahame.
In her younger days she was the 'floozy' in 'It's a Wonderful Life' -
Netflix 2019 Rom/com
Silly film but it has its moments
A woman gets upgraded on a plane and after consuming free champagne the plane hits turbulence. She is drunk and panics, thinking the plane is going to crash.
She then proceeds to tell the good looking stranger next to her all her secrets , thinking they will be dead soon.
At this point we don’t know everything she told him
Later at work she finds out that the stranger is the company’s new CEO and is embarrassed realising she had told him some humiliating secrets. He agrees not to tell anyone if she keeps one secret for him.
A light comedy , easy going uncomplicated plot .
