Angry parents have slammed a library service in London after a monkey costume with a fake penis was used to promote a children's summer reading challenge at the weekend.
An actor in a multi-coloured outfit, with genitalia and nipples, was brought out, as part of an event to encourage children to look at more books over the holidays.
The library, which is run as an arm of Redbridge Council called Vision, first responded to comments online about the penis with "if you have got it, flaunt it". -

Ridiculous organisation by the NHS (Edited)
There is a really stupid scenario going on locally for people having surgery at Queens hospital.
They have to go to Goodmayes hospital for their pre op. tests, then the same day go to King George hospital for a Covid test - literally 5 mins walk away, but the covid test at King George is drive through only and they must stay in the car and then be driven straight home to isolate.
People without cars are having trouble getting cabs to accommodate these rules. -
Mini tornado or lightning strike or something in Barking, walls knocked down and trees uprooted.
-
Missed bins - ridiculous rules (Edited)
In this borough if you have a missed bin collection you can only report it on line between 10pm that day and 6am the next day.
How stupid is that. This discussion is now closed.

One of the police's biggest raids on New Year's Eve was at an unlicensed music event on Alfreds Way in Barking.
Multiple police units descended on the area after reports of 70 to 100 people in attendance.
Sound equipment was seized along with "1,000 bottles of alcohol".
The police said they are reviewing CCTV and working to locate organisers and have asked anyone with information to contact them.
Barking and Dagenham police had a very busy evening with officers also attending a house part on East Street
Barking and Dagenham MPS wrote on Twitter: "Officers attended East Street, Barking to reports of House Party, Covid Breach & anti-social behaviour. Resulted in issuing of 6 x Fines to individuals found to be in breach at location." -

The council sub contractors are down my banjo today supposedly marking yellow lines and parking bays. 2 cars have not moved so there are gaps in the yellow lines and now they have gone - no bays marked out and cars coming back and parking up.

Defected London FSTVL Saturday 14th September
I had been forewarned of the above event about a week ago. It’s in Central Park Dagenham and runs from 11am until 11pm. There’s going to be 4 music stages and apparently the decibel levels are going to be monitored. I live near the West Ham Training ground on the opposite side, so I envisage a day of loud “House music”. I’m not looking forward to it one bit.

Hello everybody. I’m back after an absence of 5 months. I was extremely ill but am now recovering albeit slowly. I’d just like to pass on my gratitude to all the well wishers on here for their messages of support who I received thanks to Dave. I’m blessed to have such a good and helpful friend. Thank you to you all.
