Vaccination for 16 / 17 year olds
There is a walk in Covid vaccine centre at the Civic Centre in Bromley. My 17 year old grandson walked in this morning and was given the jab. Quite a lot of 16 and 17 year olds are now getting the vacillation without making an appointment.

Bromley council newsletter 9th April
Bromley joins national week of mourning
Dear Resident,
Following the sad news and the official announcement by Buckingham Palace earlier today concerning the Duke of Edinburgh, the Council is holding a one-minute silence at 11am Saturday 10 April.
The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Hannah Gray and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Colin Smith will be present to represent the Council and residents to observe the silence as a mark of sympathy and respect. To maintain social distancing and in line with the current legal requirements, residents and staff are being invited to observe the silence virtually, from home.
The Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Hannah Gray said, “It is with sadness that we are gathering following the official announcement concerning the Duke of Edinburgh. Many of us will have our own personal memories which we will reflect on, as a nation and a borough. It is right to come together as we mourn at this time, with our flag flown at half-mast out of respect.”
The Leader of the Council, Councillor Colin Smith said, “This is a sad and difficult time for our nation and for many residents as we come together to mourn. The Duke of Edinburgh served our country with utmost distinction and our thoughts and prayers are naturally with Her Majesty, the Queen, and other members of the Royal Family at this time.”
The Council will be reflecting on whether any civic meetings need to be rearranged in light of this sad news and any changes or updates will be publicised on the Council’s website in due course.
Memorial tribute flowers can be laid in Queens Gardens in Bromley with appropriate social distancing needing to take place.
Residents are invited to join the live-stream available from the link on the home page of the Council website www.bromley.gov.uk from 11am on Saturday 10 April.
Yours sincerely,
Bromley Council -
After a consultation with my doctor today, I need some blood tests.
I need to book an appointment for the blood tests and can no longer 'pop in' for a test at surgery or hospital.
No appointments available, next one is in 2 weeks time 🤬

London Mayoral Election - 6 May 2021
The 2021 Mayoral Election will be held on 6 May 2021 to elect the Mayor of London. It will he held simultaneously with elections for the London Assembly.
In Bromley Polling stations will be open as usual with many of the Covid-19 safety measures we have become used to in place. An alternative is to have your ballot paper sent to you by applying for a postal vote. You need to do this well in advance of an upcoming election in order to be able to vote this way. Find out how to apply for a postal vote... https://www.bromley.gov.uk/info/200033/elections_and_voting/219/voting_in_elections/2?dm_i=3YM6,18TK3,557UYV,4H7IK,1 -

Bromley infection rate (published 18th Jan)
The London Borough of Bromley's infection rate peaked at 1,146.7 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to the 4 January.
It has now fallen to 655.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to the 12 January. That's nearly a 43% fall in our local infection rate.
Well done. Keep well and keep safe -
Just got my over 70's appointment for vaccination at the Wellness Centre in Orpington. Received this as a text message on my phone and I choose date and appointment time.
Anyone else had theirs? -
A message from our local councillors. Please share.
"You will doubtless have seen the very unfortunate significant increase in infection rates locally, particularly since Christmas.
This is now beginning to have an effect on council services, particularly waste and recycling collections, street cleaning including leaf clearance and emptying of on street bins and recycling areas. This is because of significant numbers of both our and our contractors staff having to self isolate.
The Councils web site is being updated frequently and will show any necessary changes to collection dates. This is the most up to date way of finding out. Things can still be reported on fix my street but may not receive as fast a response as we would all like.
Please circulate this as widely as possible and we urge people NOT to phone the council unless very urgent. By all means send e mails or fill out web forms." -
These are our ward figures for W/E 5th Dec
Please wear a mask or face covering when out and about. -
Royal Mail sorting and delivery office at Vinson Close, Orpington
FYI
Simon Fawthrop, Petts Wood East
The Council has informed us about a cluster of Covid-19 cases at a Royal Mail sorting and delivery office at Vinson Close, Orpington BR6 0PJ (total staff numbers c.136).
Over the past three weeks they have had 10 cases; while some have had links to community or household cases, there are a small number of likely workplace transmissions. Managers at the sorting office report adequate control measures being in place, including social distancing, environmental cleaning, hand hygiene and facilities.
Public Health and Environmental Health will be giving advice and support to ensure the building is Covid-secure and to help prevent further cases. -
Group formed to lobby for ban on backyard bonfires in Bromley
https://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/18525696.group-formed-lobby-ban-backyard-bonfires-bromley/
Should be a permanent ban not just during the coronavirus pandemic. We have a good green waste collection service in Bromley and there is no need for any bonfires. -

Many people dont really know what Pilates is all about so you can read about the benefits of Pilates on my website and also most of the exercises that physiotherapists use with their patients are Pilates based. More and more doctors and physiotherapists recommend Pilates as a form of exercise to maintain spine and joint health. -
If your are over 60s and feel unsure to join a Pilates class please consider to join a Senior Fitness Pilates - my current class is full but if there is enough interest I will open a new class.
I am very proud of my class members who all have different health issues like lung disease, osteoporosis, arthritis, asthma etc and yet they come each week and keep progressing further. They improved their posture, strength, balance, coordination, core and improved their lung capacity. They were all worried in the beginning but by now they formed friendship even outside of class and everyone is so supportive of each other.
They are my inspiration and I hope they can inspire others who wish to improve their general health.
if you want to register your interest should I open a new class please email naama@remedialpilates.com -
