Showcase UK
To promote areas of the UK you have visited with photographs of local interest and beauty spots within 5 miles, showing off the area to others with information about it.. Photos can be taken by anyone on anything from a box brownie to a high end DSLR to mobile phones and everything in between as long as you have taken them. Absolutely no happy snaps, holiday photos or pets and children. (these will be removed} The aim is to show what beautiful places there are in the UK and perhaps give you the urge to visit yourself.

Southend art and elephant herd (Edited)
What a great weekend and great day to visit Southend again. Lovely weather and a festival feel with artists creating amazing work, some permanent on buildings as mentioned by JohnH on the local Southend and Essex groups.

As mentioned in a thread just a few days ago in the Anything group
Here are some photos of just some of the dozens of decorated Morphs on the trail, taken today as we walked from London Bridge, past the Tate Gallery, around the Borough Market and along by Blackfriars -
Just a hundred yards from the seafront of Bexhill on Sea, surrounded by houses, is this compact but beautiful park with playgrounds, lakes, cafe and tennis courts behind the museum.

West Wycombe Park, Village and Hill - National Trust
West Wycombe House and its 5000 acre estate is the home of the Dashwood family and has been since 1698.
It's an exquisite Palladian villa with porticoes and colonnades which would be equally comfortable set in either Italy or Greece.
A notable comment, "The Gardens are a paradise" was made by Benjamin Franklin. -
Hanningfield Reservoir (Edited)

Nice secluded walks, bird hides, free parking (donation inside the centre) cafe and the huge reservoir.
Bonus for me was no dogs allowed. Could hear all the birds singing. -
A beautiful and huge park with two reservoirs, lakes, a rose garden, a bandstand , cafe’s, tennis courts and a sculpture in the water! In two sections the park transforms from formal to woodland. Parking is free on the main St Helens Road and the road between the two sections.

Back for the first time in ten years . Then almost gets stopped by a tree 🌲
We enjoyed the day but the weather could have been kinder, especially as it all ended up running an hour late whilst saws were sent for to remove the offending branches stopping the floats coming out of the sports centre at the start -
Not sure if this is the right loop but thought this might be of interest to people who live in the area

The Tinwood Estate - Chichester Sussex (Edited)
The Tinwood Estate is a Vinyard and winery in the South of England where you can watch wine being made and bottled.
Open for day visits or there is limited lodge accommodation if you want to stay on the estate. Breakfast items, (All cold) are delivered to your lodge door in a basket early in the morning.
Walking around the estate will bring you to the Priory of St Mary & St Blaise, Boxgrove, where you can stroll around the ruins outside or pop inside and see many interesting windows and other sights.
Sitting outside our lodge sipping tea and watching the local pilots flying around the skies (including a Spitfire), was very relaxing. -
Various views around Windermere including Wray Castle (worth a visit but don't expect too much!)
There is also a picture of a happy resident showing various colours on her back obtained from the rams who had visited her. -
Visited the Friars on a warm summer day

A beautiful day and all paid for by a kind relative who sent us a 'red letter' day -
Can only ever remember visiting Clacton as a child so wasn’t sure what it was like . Went inside the upside down house - disoriented lol
Nice beach and amusements on the pier -
Beth Chatto Garden , Elmstead, Essex
We recently visited this garden , and whilst it was smaller than others such as Hyde Hall, we enjoyed a few hours wandering around the different gardens and woodland
