For you (Edited)
Members of this group have mentioned their favourite songs - this is one of mine -
For You by Judie Tzuke
https://youtu.be/wds903B96V8
I saw her live in an old church at Teddington a few years ago - Just her, her two daughters on backing vocals and a guitarist.
After the show she came out and chatted to the few audience members who had stayed behind to meet her, signed autographs and posed for photos.
Her voice is still amazing but has changed slightly over the years.
In recent years she sang lead vocals on Morcheeba - Enjoy the Ride which is closer to how she sounds nowadays.

Hi Charlie please introduce yourself and tell us a little about your musical preferences -
Shakin' Stevens hada big hit with a song he wrote called Oh Julie.
In1958 the Crescendos (a US doo wop group) recorded this song entitled Oh Julie. It always reminds me of the Shakin' Stevens song - albeit a slower tempo. Is it my imagination or do you think that Shaky may have been inspired a bit by it?

BBC Radio 3's Composer of the Week
This week's is jazz composer Carla Bley – I've been listening to today's prog with much enjoyment and will catch up on the earlier ones, all available on the BBC site. Anyone else?

I think I've recommended this series elsewhere on Scooploop - music of all genres that has really meant something in people's lives. Some of their stories about how and why are very moving.

I found this version of True Colours, recorded in March 2020 during lockdown when the choir couldn't be in physical proximity to each other, very moving. So are some of the comments below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lqWQCWc_zCc

Anyone remember Clifford T Ward who had a hit in 1973 with Gaye. His singing career probably suffered from his reluctance to do shows on tour. He contracted MS in the 1980s and died of pneumonia in 2001 at the age of 57.
I was reminded of him recently when I heard this lovely song which he wrote and which was tucked away on the B Side of Gaye.

Favourite soundtrack albums (Edited)
Just wondering if anyone has a favourite non-musical movie soundtrack album? For me, there's nothing to touch Burt Bacharach's soundtrack album from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. The whole album is on Youtube, one track following another.

A poem by Mick Westwood set to music!
Here's my latest offering, and it's me playing 6 string guitar and singing the vocal, with bass guitar dubbed on top again.
I hasten to add that I definitely sang "cock up", but I know it doesn't sound like it!

I'm hoping to have it ready for open-mic tomorrow evening, but I'm still struggling with the lyrics, and my arthritic fingers won't do what I want them to! -

I guess I could put this one up, as I have put it up else where, but don't be surprised if you hear me singing in a somewhat deep voice!
It's called War!
I'm sure I could do it better, but it needs a lot of practice, I only set it to music last Thursday, and did the audio recording and put it on YouTube the following day!
I think my open-mic set is going to be all protest songs. This one, and one called Bodge it and Scarper, and probably Blowing in the Wind!

I've been quite busy musically the last few days. I discovered a couple of poems by Mick Westwood, on facebook, and I have his approval to set them to music, which I have done. I've been practicing them a lot, and hope to perform them at the next open-mic on Wednesday, but they're not quite good enough for "general release", on YouTube yet.
