I’m back from my short holiday to Amsterdam and Bruges which was really nice .
What beautiful weather , got all the washing done when we got back yesterday , today grass to be cut and seeing kids and grandchildren over the weekend and despite it being a warm bank holiday it’s very likely to be buckets and spades at the seaside.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend .

What is everyone doing this weekend ? I’m picking up our eldest 2 grandchildren aged 10 and 7 from school this afternoon for a sleepover, grandma has lots of craft activities planned and tomorrow before taking them home we are going to take them to the cinema to see Missing Link .
Sunday weather permitting Mr D and I are going to to Paper Mill lock for a walk along the river bank . Anyone been ? -
So can anyone start some new posts but please absolutely nothing relating to leaving the EU , lets just be pleasant instead of point scoring .
-
My two local parks are Bedford’s Park which most people locally have heard of also Dagnam Park ( The Manor ) , a beautiful natural park 345 acres that you can walk through and come out in Noak Hill Road or also walk through under the M25 into Brentwood, huge herd of free running deer and an abundance of wildlife . Any of you visit either of these parks ?
This photo shows 4 scenes from the park including one of the bluebells which will be flowering in all their beauty very soon . -
Trying to have a small discussion about something that shouldn’t cause an argument 😂
Anyone see the first episode of new series of Line of Duty on Sunday and if so what did you think ? -
In Romford over the lunch period , decided to give this new place a try . Impressed , it’s in no way fine dining but it’s clean , food is freshly cooked and prices very reasonable so what’s not to like .
-
I’ve not been on here since first thing and almost every post I’ve tried to go on has disappeared, what’s been going on ?!
-
Only 35 mins from home we had a lovely walk alongside the sea today in the sunshine in Canvey Island , clocked up 8,000 steps and almost everyone we passed greeted us , totally pleasant few hours .

Get so sick of the miserable posts on here .
It’s a beautiful day , I’m going to Bedford’s Park for a walk in the sunshine , pop into Aldi , then home to do a little ironing and some jigsaw puzzle .
Tomorrow going to a free Calligraphy session in the Mall then hopefully book a few days away in the sunshine next month .
Tuesday cinema .
Life’s what you make of it and I’m a glass half full person .

Hi, My 15 year old is looking for a weekend/ after school job. Any ideas for places that might take her on ?
many thanks Rachell -
New post , I’ve put on about a stone over the past 6 months so the sensible eating started this week also some regular walking each day which helps with my Copd . Anyone else dieting at present?!
-
So lucky with our doctors , just hope it doesn’t change 🤞
Rang this morning and no appointments till Tuesday , went as an emergency as thought I had a urine infection and waited to be seen and sure enough came out 45 minutes later , specimen taken and checked and with prescription for antibiotics 👍 -
Be careful , apparently there is a very realistic scam doing the rounds regarding direct debit payments for tv licences .

Tin Star , last in the first series finished on Sunday, anyone else been watching this brilliant edge of seat drama ?
-
Another positive experience with the NHS , went to King George’s Hospital today for physiotherapy following my recent collarbone fracture . Seen within 5 minutes by a physiotherapist and student physiotherapist, very thorough in their questions to me , took plenty of time to explain worthwhile exercises and printed me a sheet with the exercises to follow at home . Seeing me again in 2 weeks . Couldn’t have had better attention had I paid privately to see a Physiotherapist.
-
This in yesterday’s i made me wonder how many people with young children read to them at bedtime ?
-
I was unlucky enough to fall over in Romford at the beginning of December and break my collarbone. In case you don’t know that’s a really common injury , very easy to do and extremely painful . Anyway from the very prompt and kind professional paramedics , to my treatment in A&E and subsequent follow up appointments I have nothing but praise. Last Wednesday I was told by the consultant in the fracture clinic that the sling could be discarded 👍, after wearing that on my right arm 24hours a day for 5 weeks I was delighted . Anyway consultant took plenty of time telling me what I can and can’t do , exercises to help build up muscle and today I’ve received at appointment for physiotherapy next Monday . Very impressed.
-
Nice friendly post 👍. What are people doing today ? We are going to sort out putting the jigsaw puzzle that our kids bought us into a frame ( some of you may have seen an earlier post about it ) Our son and daughter in law are coming round with our youngest grandchild ( 5 months ) Also we are going to go for a walk over The Manor 😀and I’ve got a crossword to finish . What is everyone else up to ?
-
Hopefully this can be a topic with no name calling !
Don’t like Silent Witness , I feel the female lead is very one dimensional and only has one expression.
Probably my favourite two dramas would be the outstanding Homeland , also Line of Duty , I think both of those are absolutely brilliant.
Looking forward to the new series of Cold Feet which starts Monday .
Re Cleaning Up , watched 15 minutes but then said to Mr D I can’t watch this , irritated by mum pulling up on double yellow lines to drop kids at school , then messing about with her phone runs into the back of someone and drives off ! Then doesn’t pay at the meter to park and then we find she’s run up £8,000 debt on line gambling . At this point I want her locked up and the key thrown away , fortunately Mr D felt the same .
The above mentioned dramas Homeland , Line of Duty and Cold Feet anyone watched any of them ? -
Has anyone watched Brexit The Uncivil
War also anyone watch Question Time last night ? -
To lighten the mood after Brexit post ! In this tin was a 1000 piece puzzle made up of selected photos ranging from the earliest of myself and my husband in 1980 through till our latest grandchild was born in August last year with lots of happy memories in between . It was a joint Christmas present from our son and daughter and whilst challenging it was a delight to do. Does anyone else do jigsaw puzzles .
-
Hi all

Main Road - proposed speed control tables & speed control cushions
Tucked away in the Notices section on Page 63 of the Romford Recorder (24/8) I noticed a Proposal for the installation of Speed Control Cushions and Speed Control Tables along a significant section of Main Road between the Magistrates Court and Castellan Avenue both west (towards Romford) and east (towards Gallows Corner).
It says that 2,000 vehicles use Main Road per hour and the justification is that speeds of up to 50 mph have been recorded (that can't have been during most of the day when it can be quicker to walk than drive along Main Road) and the 80 personal injuries (3 serious & 1 fatal - with nearly 25% of these occurring during the hours of darkness) recorded over a 5 year period.
While it is never acceptable for any injuries to occur on this or any of our roads this scheme seems to be unjustified on such a major route into & out of Romford and will inevitably push many vehicles onto surrounding side roads (like Castellan Avenue which is already a rat-run) to avoid the speed cushions/tables & inevitable queues that will build up. Better phasing of the overly long pedestrian lights outside Raphaels & Lodge Farm Parks and the ridiculous Toucan (for cyclists/pedestrian) lights at Upper Brentwood Road which phase even when there are neither waiting to use the crossing would go a long way to preventing the resulting large gaps in the traffic allowing such speeds. Or maybe just install average speed cameras along the whole stretch.
If you want to comment on the Scheme you only have until September 14th.
Details are at https://www.havering.gov.uk/consultations -
