Toxic to pets - copied from f/book

Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser
Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better.
Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog.
I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was.
So I took him to emergency vet.
It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out.
The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing.
Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets.
Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home
Anise (Pimpinella anisum)
Birch (Betula)
Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis)
Boldo (Peumus boldus)
Calamus (Acorus calamus)
Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora)
Cassia (Cassia fistula)
Chenopodium (Chenopodium album)
Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum)
Garlic (Allium sativum)
Goosefoot (Chenopodium murale)
Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana)
Hyssop (Hyssopus sp. with the exception of Decumbens)
Juniper (Juniperus sp. with the exception of Juniper Berry)
Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris)
Mustard (Brassica juncea)
Oregano (Origanum vulgare)
Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium)
Red or White Thyme
Rue (Ruta graveolens)
Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus)
Sassafras (Sassafras albidum)
Savory (Satureja)
Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare)
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
Terebinth (Pistacia palaestina)
Thuja (Thuja occidentalis)
Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens)
Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium)
Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)

I too thought I would share some photos of my beautiful girl who went over the bridge a week ago. it was such a difficult decision because as far as she was concerned there was nothing wrong with her. If it wasnโt for the large tumour on her hind quarters nobody would have known. I arranged for a Dignipet Vet to come to the house in the afternoon and then we went for a walk in the morning. She was so happy but she really wasnโt well. The vet said that she was a lot iller than she looked. I miss her so much.

Sadly during lockdown, my beloved dog passed away a few weeks ago. So I thought Iโd share some of my favourite photos of her

My poor dog is getting confused with this not meeting people. She can hear my son when he knocks with a bit of shopping for me. He stands on the pavement and has a chat. The dog can hear him and is standing on her hind legs trying to see him over the half door. I come back in and she expects him to be with me and is disappointed when he don't come in. Same when he brings the kids with him, she can hear them and gets so excited and want to see them. I wonder whats going on in her mind.

Those with a dog/s...lucky you....good excuse to get out and stretch all your legs. People saying their dogs have never had so many walks... and for those who donโt work from home normally the dogs and cats are getting puzzled!! Thinking all those professional dog walkers and dog parlours will see their money drop too.

This virus is affecting so many areas, including animal rescue homes.
I see Many Tears rescue were in paper today as canโt get enough people to visit and hopefully find a dog to rehome..
Any Greyhound lovers, or not, maybe have a look at enclosed.

Pet insurance - cancelling today
Probably written about this before but have now decided pet insurance has become ridiculous.
Paying ยฃ55 per month at the moment. The dog had an argument in the park with another and I payed ยฃ348 at the vet the same morning. Rang the claims department and - in addition to the ยฃ135 excess - was told they would also deduct 20% as the dog is over 8 (she is now roughly 12). I have never claimed before in 7 years and have accepted the other bills which have not reached the ยฃ135 or too little over as to not worth bothering (as you also pay the vet ยฃ10 admin. fee). Actually ended up with ยฃ170.
So will now transfer the ยฃ55 into another account. I've really only kept on so long with current dog as she is such an agile dog (lurcher). I stopped paying insurance with my last dog (a thoroughbred terrier-type mongrel) at about the same age and put away a 4-figure sum until he had to be put down at 16. After, of course, paying thousands in insurance over the past years. Which goes up every year as the dog gets older.
I appreciate if a dog develops a long-term problem it's difficult - just have to hope it doesn't happen. -
How about this for a find, or two!! (Edited)
This breed are PULI, Hungarian sheepdogs. For a start how they see out of their Rastafarian style of hair is anybodyโs guess, but imagine ownerโs surprise when she found this baby Possum clinging on to one of her dogs, hidden inside at first, her dog seemingly oblivious. They decided to walk it to a vet and let them retrieve it just in case. All taken care of. Then sometime later another one appeared!! See darker colour. They must have fallen somehow and lost their mums.

This is a post from Sandie that she wanted moving here.
On RIP Off Britain Live. Ep 2 on Iplayer (brilliant programme, can learn so much, especially re fraud etc) that when you get your animal (especially dogs) microchipped, should they get lost there are so many different companies that are involved in this but they do not connect with each other, so owners canโt always track down their animals... and even vets should do more to scan a dog that comes into their practice. There are a lot of people who very sadly have lost their pets that are now complaining to the relative organisation (forget the official name) that there should be just one database and not so many, who quite frankly are making vast profits.

Fiorella, the Italian Greyhound, living โDown Underโ
She has a little problem, her tongue ๐ but is now an internet sensation!!
But you canโt compare her to my lovely George... who had all his teeth out eventually, due to his sad racing days of bad diet, but the breeds also have problems with saliva and such.

Very sad to have to have my beloved lurcher put to sleep on Saturday after 13 wonderful years. My heart is broken and my two terriers are so sad. It never gets easier and I wouldn't have missed a day with her.
