I see our dear mayor was in the north of England, attending sporting jollies, with his wife, while London was being battered by storm Eunice!!. It also transpires that he has received at least £17,000 of tickets for sporting events!!

The medics' and scientists' lack of support for the change of policy on Covid-19 (Edited)
There weren't any experts actively supporting this change at the press briefing on today's announcement, I understand. Had the chief medical officer and chief scientific officer supported the change of policy, surely they'd have been speaking up for it.
A number of others have spoken up - but against the change, not for it - in the form of an open letter, which members of the public are invited to sign too. I haven't spotted anyone else posting this yet, so here's the link.

Sir Captain Tom's charity has fallen foul of the Watchdog
First the charity run by his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore tried to pay her a salary of £150,000. That is over 10% of the charity's assets. Basically she award herself that salary. The watchdog stopped her.
The latest is that an extension built onto her house was paid for out of the charity's funds. She made the excuse that her house is also the head office of the charity. The watchdog said the extension is personal living space and should've been paid for with personal funds.

Keeping free testing for Covid-19
Here's another, very topical and invaluable petition - trying to stop the idiot government from ending free public testing for Covid-19.
Do please sign and share it as widely as possible, ideally before there's any official announcement of the ending of such testing.

My son in law and 2 grandkids have covid. My daughter text me yesterday to say she had a knock on the door from Havering Council. They were checking to see if her husband was at home and not out spreading covid. I know some of you have had covid, did you get a house call to make sure you were at home. They didn't ask about the kids.

A man walked into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him.
The waitress asked them for their orders.
The man said, "A hamburger, crisps and a pint."
She turned to the ostrich. "What's yours?" she asked the ostrich.
"I'll have the same," said the ostrich.
A short time later the waitress returned with the order. "That will be £12.46, please." And the man reached into his pocket and pulled out the exact change for payment.
The next day, the man and the ostrich came again and the man said, "A hamburger, crisps and a pint."
The ostrich said, "I'll have the same."
Again the man reached into his pocket and paid with exact change.
This becomes routine until the two entered again. "The usual?" asked the waitress.
"No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," said the man.
"Same," said the ostrich.
Shortly the waitress brought the order and said, "That will be £42.62."
Once again the man pulled the exact change out of his pocket and placed it on the table.
The waitress could not hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?"
"Well," said the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there."
"That's brilliant!" said the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million pounds or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"
"That's right. Whether it's a pint of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," said the man.
The waitress asked, "What's with the ostrich?"
The man sighed, paused and answered, "My second wish was for a tall bird with long legs who agrees with everything I say."
Don't agree with this at all..........

Boris Johnson to 'end free PCR tests within weeks'
The prime minister is reportedly set to end free PCR tests within weeks as part of his new "living with Covid" plan that would also see the Treasury save billions with £100 fee
As part of the new approach of living with Covid, the new costs will come in as the Treasury pushes to save billions of pounds by scrapping free testing. However, vulnerable people and those in hospital will continue to get the testing for free, reports The Mirror.
Some people feel that to criticise your own country is wrong, unpatriotic, and somehow lacking in gratitude for all the good things we enjoy. They also frequently suggest that somehow it’s a failing of ‘the left’.
I take a different view. I believe it is better to be truthful about the bad things, own up to them, pay any dues and, in that way, we can be truly free to enjoy our country and be proud of it.
This article describes an element of our very recent history that I can’t feel proud of.

The Duchess of Cornwall is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19, Clarence House has confirmed. Her husband, the Prince of Wales, tested positive for the virus on Thursday but Camilla carried out three public engagements on that day after testing negative. Prince Charles met the Queen two days before his positive result, but a royal source said on Thursday she was showing no symptoms.
