Hi, I'm renovating a house at the moment; my husband is project managing but we're short on time to think about colour schemes and overall look. I'm looking for a local interior design type person who can just give us some advice (not charge £000's) so we don't end up going with the safe grey option throughout.

Hi All, I love this time of year and getting out with my camera. Seeking recommendations of the best places to go to see the Autumn colours. I'm interested in anywhere I can reach by public transport. What are your favourite spots? Many Thanks :-)

I’ve got 200 silk cut cigarettes which I bought duty free for a friend who has since given up smoking. Which is brilliant for her and not so good for me as I’m £40 down. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do with them?

Hello everyone!
I've just joined having seen a post on nextdoor recommending here. I never tried streetlife so no basis for comparison.
Despite its failings - search facility!! - one of the things I do like about nextdoor is the size of the community. It's specific and small which seems to makes it relevant. ScoopLoop have plopped me into Furzedown, and I have the option to move to another community close community once, e.g. Tooting but both cover a large area with an awful lot of people!
Any tips for here?! -
any recommendation for a good heating engineer who is not crazily expensive? My Vaillant boiler needs a service and some thermostats need adjusting which I cannot do as I don't have a doctorate in Astro Physics.

As you can tell from the past post, I am doing a bit of a housekeeping audit at the moment. I have been with Virgin since the Cable and Wireless days and have a package for TV, telephone and broadband. Last Saturday evening my landline gave up the ghost and I reported it and the first appointment they could offer for repair was this Monday, i.e. 9 days later. I made three phone calls pleading the case but to no avail. I have looked into the packages and signed up for Sky for what seems to be a comparable package but at a cost of about £10 per month less. I am now getting cold feet and can easily reverse the decision. I realise that these carrots at the beginning can soon change drastically after the initial period but it is for 18 months. It seems to me though that, unlike Virgin, I could not decide to watch a film one night and merely pay for it but would have to pay for the movie package on a contractual basis also, when I probably would not use it for 90% of the time. Is this correct? Does anyone have any thoughts? Once again, many thanks.

Central heating & boiler insurance
For many years I have been covered by British Gas for the above, including plumbing and electrics. It is about to renew this month and I am thinking of cancelling because the cost is so high in comparison with alternatives I have seen. It will be £416 with a £50 excess and that's for a one bedroom flat. I am looking at Homeserve which quotes £192 with the same excess. I also notice that I can add a Home Emergency item to my house insurance when it renews next month. Does anyone have any ideas. Many thanks.

I have just joined having been on Nextdoor after Streetlife. I must admit I wasn't happy with Nextdoor at first and missed Streetlife but I have to say I had settled to Nextdoor and people were still extremely helpful. Any way, hello again to previous Streetlife friends.

Windows - is ventilation mandatory?
Wonder if anyone could help with a question about replacing my old timber-framed windows with uPVC ones.
My wooden frames have ventilation panels. Will I also need ventilation panels in my new windows? Are they mandatory to conform to Health and Safety regulations or are they optional? I live on the top floor of a block of flats with electricity only and no gas. -

Looking for second hand 20 inch girl's bike (Edited)
As we are selling our daughter's 16 inch bike (please see post in Classifieds), we are in the market for a 20 inch one. Our daughter is out of the pink/purple phase and doesn't want these colours. Any other colour considered, especially blue. Thanks

Local community choir - no auditions - recruiting now!
Dear Neighbours,
If you have ever fancied singing with others in beautiful four part harmony, then come along and check us out. 'Clapham Chorus' is a friendly local community choir which meets on Thursday evenings during term time from 7:30 - 9:30pm.
Our repertoire is drawn from folk songs from around the world as well as a few contemporary arrangements. You don't have to read music as we learn everything by ear and provide sound files to practice with.
We meet in the church hall at the Church of the Ascension, Malwood Road SW12 8EN (just 3 mins from Clapham South tube). Further information, pictures, film clips, history etc can be found on our website and we also have a Facebook page - just Google us - Clapham Chorus -

restoration or upcycling class
I am furnishing my new home and I am tired of Ikea. I would like to have a go at restoring some old furniture )(very basic level) and upcycling but pretty much don't have a clue.
Has anyone seen any classes advertised locally?
thanks -
Hello, I'm looking for some advice.
My 6 year old daughter is really keen to learn Chinese since our trip to Hong Kong at Easter. Anyway I've been dragging my feet and thought she would forget about it over the summer but she hasn't!!!!
I'd appreciate it if anyone has experience of their young child learning Chinese. What age is good to start?
I don't want to confuse her as she is still developing her reading and writing skills
Does anyone know of any good, fun, 'light' group classes that don't involve reading or writing? I'd appreciate sharing your experiences. Thanks -
Hello, I've just moved in and haven't got everything I need yet. I was wondering if anyone local could lend me a ladder? Thanks in advance

Seeking recommendations of where to buy a suit
Hi Everyone.
I'm seeking recommendations of where I can buy a suit as it seems surprisingly difficult for us ladies (so much choice for men!).
Any thoughts gratefully received.
Many Thanks 😊
