Death Cafe returns to Richmond Unitarians, Sunday 16 June 2-4 p.m.
We all will die, but death is a subject we often feel inhibited or fearful to talk about. Death Café offers a supportive space to share our thoughts and feelings about our own deaths and the death of those who are near to us in a spirit of compassion, acceptance and openness. All with a cup of tea and some cake!
The Death Café concept was invented in 2011 by Jon Underwood and Sue Barsky Reid, based on the ideas of Bernard Crettaz, and has since spread to 85 countries. Its object is ‘to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives’. It provides a forum for discussion rather than a grief support or counselling session. For more information, visit https://deathcafe.com.
Richmond and Putney Unitarians are an open-minded and open-hearted spiritual community based in the heart of Richmond. We welcome people of all faiths or no faith, irrespective of social status, gender or sexual orientation. Find out more about us on our website at www.rpuc.org,uk. -

Playgrounds in Wandsworth and Richmond will reopen this weekend
Playgrounds and outdoor gyms in Richmond and Wandsworth will reopen this Saturday (July 4) but gates and individual pieces of equipment will not be regularly cleaned.
Today both councils warned that they do not have the resources to carry out regular cleaning to disinfect equipment so its use is entirely at the user's risk.
For this reason residents are asked to not enter or use the play areas or outdoor facilities if they or any member of their household has coronavirus symptoms or if they are self-isolating.
Children are also advised not to use equipment if they are "clinically vulnerable".
Visitors should have hand sanitiser with them before entering the play areas and should wash their hands regularly, especially before and after using equipment.
They must also keep socially distanced from others unless they are from the same household.
This should be at least one metre, and users are asked to consider wearing a face mask.
Richmond has also announced that its multi-use games areas and skate parks will reopen this weekend.
Kings Field skate park will have an imposed limit of a maximum of 25 skaters at any one time, with a restriction to one-hour use to ensure safe social distancing.
Cllr Julia Neden-Watts, chair of the environment and sustainability committee said she was "pleased" facilities could reopen to help people keep fit and improve their mental well-being.
She said that the council has carried out a risk assessment and will provide clear signage to help people who want to use the equipment.
“We must remember that Covid-19 is still a risk. Above all, please make sure that you keep your social distance and wash your hands – immediately – on your return home," she said. -

Police warn of bereavement scam (Wandsworth, Wimbledon and Richmond)
The Metropolitan Police and councils in Wandsworth, Wimbledon and Richmond are warning residents over various bereavement scams amid the coronavirus pandemic.
In a letter posted online and sent to recently bereaved residents cosigned by borough councils in Wandsworth, Merton and Richmond, and promoted by the Met Police, a spokesperson for Trading Standards described their work uncovering ongoing scams designed to take advantage of people newly grieving.
The scams aimed to extract money from relatives or friends of people recently deceased and came in several different forms.
Under the "You Owe Money" section, Trading Standards described the method as follows:
"Someone pretending to be a debt collector may call or write to you to inform you that you are responsible for your loved ones' debts.
"They may put you under pressure to pay immediately. NEVER make a payment or give information over the phone," the letter read.
Under another section entitled "Obituary Scams", Trading Standards warned residents that scammers search recent obituaries for "information they can use to forge identities".
Other scams included scams known as "You Are Entitled To Money", "Long Lost Relative" and even "Clairvoyant Scams" — where an imposter solicits money to deliver a "final message" to a lost loved one.
"Scammers are convincing liars who use every trick in the book to make sure their scams seem plausible," the letter warned.
"Please be aware of possible scams and look out for family members," it added. -

Travel companion to Greece for September
Hello my name is Jade and I'm a 29 nearly 30 year old university graduate from Ham. I am planning to go to Greece from the 3rd-7th September to go to Thessaloniki for a Greek concert on the 4th. But I can't go unless if I am accompanied by somebody especially somebody who is familiar with understanding Asperger's Syndrome which I actually have I can go around the city with and help me out in the hotel rooms. The person has to be female, reliable, trustworthy, my age or older and has to meet up with me beforehand to see if we are compatiable and know what we want. If interested, please message me for more information.
