You have a circular cake for desert and eight people who would like a piece.
How can you cut the cake into eight equal sized pieces with just three cuts?
As puzzles seem to be in favour today......................
You're standing in a particular location on the earth's surface. You walk a mile south, a mile east and a mile north. You end up at the place you started.
You're NOT at the north pole.
Where are you?
The radio news this morning said that A and A star A level results are up 6% on last year.
I don't believe the students are 6% better or more intelligent, especially with the limitations of teaching during lock down, so it significantly devalues the grades.
In my opinion the grade boundaries should be flexible so, for example, the top 10% of students get an A star, the next 15% get an A, the next 15% get a B (or whatever percentages seem appropriate). That would take into account the effects of lock down, possible variations in the difficulty of the exam papers and so on.

Do any of you know a good way to remove blutac from a shirt?

Hi there! We are redoing our 2 bathrooms. Wondering if anyone can recommend someone who is good and reasonable on price!
I have a Toyota Aygo which requires a service soon. It's nearly at the end of its 5 year warranty so i want to get it dealer serviced at least once. Living in Epsom, my nearest dealers are Currie Motors in Kingston or Jemca Toyota in Croydon.
Anyone have good or bad experience of either of these 2 places that they'd care to disclose please?
Where can I get a custom leather phone case made?
I’m looking for someone who can make me a custom black leather belt case for my mobile phones.
I have two mobiles – my own phone and a work phone. I want to carry them on my belt with the phones horizontal – If they’re vertical there’s more chance of them bending and getting damaged when I sit down.
I’ve spent ages looking for a suitable case.
The first one I found was a stiff canvas satnav case from Halfords which lasted about three months before the zip jammed and the rest of the case started looking very tatty.
The second was a soft “leather” case which I found on the web. This lasted about four months before the stitching came undone and it fell to pieces.
The third was a soft leather case which I found on Amazon which lasted just over a month before the belt loop fell off.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the only way I’ll get a durable case with the right dimensions is to get one custom made. I’ve tried several shoe repair places in the hope that they could make me a case but no luck.
Do any of you know of a person or company which can make me a custom case, and make it properly so it won’t fall to pieces after a few months?
On Sunday March 10th I'll be taking part in the Marsden March, a 15 mile sponsored walk from the Marsden Hospital in Chelsea to the other Marsden Hospital in Sutton, passing along Fulham Road, down Putney High Street, over Wimbledon Common, on to Raynes Park, past King George's Playing Fields, across Nonsuch Park, past Nonsuch Mansion, through Cheam and Belmont to Sutton.
Since 2011 The Marsden March has raised more than ten million pounds with every penny going towards funding state-of-the-art equipment, ground-breaking research, and creating the very best patient care, improving the lives of everyone affected by cancer, in the UK and around the world. The total distance covered by the walkers each year is equivalent to someone walking two and a half times around the world.
The website of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gives a lot of detail about the march
https://www.royalmarsden.org/support-us/marsden-march
Over the years I've lost a lot of friends and relatives to assorted types of cancer, so I'd like to raise as much money as I can for the charity.
I took part in the Marsden March last year, completed the walk in just over four hours and raised £400 for the Marsden. I'd like to beat 4 hours and raise even more money in 2019.
Several of my friends on social media donated to my Marsden March 2018 fundraising and I hope that many of you will consider donating to my 2019 fundraising. So please dig deep and donate as much as you can to this fantastic cause.

Don't return calls to +216 number - Tunisia scam.
Twice today my phone has rung once and then stopped.
I checked the missed call list and found two different numbers
+216 74 871 879
+216 75 796 973
216 is the area code for Tunisia, and I don't know anybody in that country, so I looked the numbers up on the web.
Several people have reported getting one ring calls from Tunisia.
Don't call back. It will divert you to a premium rate number which will cost you a fortune.
I've blocked the numbers and all other numbers beginning in +216
Get paid for your supermarket receipts
I've discovered three phone apps which pay you for photographing your shopping receipts.
Shopprize, Shoppix and Receipt Hog
They're run by market research companies
Shopprize pays out as Amazon vouchers
You can only submit receipts from supermarkets and restaurants.
In my case it takes about 3 weeks worth of receipts to earn a £5 voucher
Shoppix pays out as Amazon vouchers, iTunes vouchers, Love2Shop vouchers or via PayPal.
You can submit receipts from any shops.
In my case it takes about 5 weeks worth of receipts to earn a £5 voucher
Receipt Hog pays out as Amazon vouchers or via PayPal
You can submit receipts from any shops.
In my case it takes about 8 weeks worth or receipts to earn a £3 voucher
Photographing the recipts is a quick process.
OK, you don't get a fortune but every little helps.
There have been a few posts recently on assorted social media sites about comparison sites for energy, hotels and so on.
Whenever I use these sites I always go there via one of the cashback sites such as Topcashback or Quidco.
Based on my experience the price you're quoted is the same but you get cash back.
For example on Topcashback a search on Confused.com pays you £2.30
Expedia pays you 11% on hotels, 3,5% on rail, 5.5% on car hire and 1% on flights.
There are lots of other shops and websites on there. For example Sainsburys online groceries gives you £3.03 as a new customer and £1.01 as an existing customer
As some of you may know, next Sunday I’m taking part in the Marsden March to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
This is a 14 mile sponsored walk from the Marsden Hospital in Chelsea to the other Marsden Hospital in Sutton, passing along Fulham Road, down Putney High Street, over Wimbledon Common, on to Raynes Park, through King George’s Playing Fields, across Nonsuch Park, past Nonsuch Mansion, through Cheam and Belmont to Sutton.

My aim is to raise as much money as possible for the Marden and so far the total is £330.
Next Sunday looks like being very cold and possibly wet.
Surely that’s worth a few extra quid.

The Marsden March - raising money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
Hi
Over the years I’ve lost a lot of relatives and friends to various forms of cancer. The Marsden hospital helped many of them, including one of my friends who was cured of nasal cancer a few years ago.

Looking for topsoil near Stoneleigh KT17
Hi
Does anybody not too far from Stoneleigh (KT17) have any spare topsoil looking for a new home?
I'm making some changes to my garden including removing a flower bed to extend the lawn. Now that I've removed the plants and dug over the old flowerbed the ground is a little below the rest of the lawn so I need a few bags of soil to bring it up to the same level as the lawn. Ideally soil without too many stones or big lumps of clay

Looking for a small TV for my daughter to take to university
My daughter's off to university in a couple of weeks and is looking for a smallish LCD TV to take with her - Something around 17 to 22 inches would be ideal.
It doesn't have to be the latest model provided it works.
Do any of you have one sitting around unused and looking for a new home?

This is going to sound like a Two Ronnies sketch, but does anyone know where I can buy fork handles, i.e. handles for garden forks?
I took advantage of the good weather over the weekend to do some gardening but broke the handle of my fork. I couldn't find a replacement handle in Homebase, B&Q or a local garden centre so I bought a new fork.
Unfortunately the prongs bent after 10 minutes of digging so I took it back and got a refund.
All of the other forks on display looked like they were a similar strength (or lack of strength) so I'm forkless.
Ideally it would be somewhere around Epsom/Sutton/Cheam/Kingston.
Wisley Gardens under threat from A3 widening
This was sent to me by a friend who is a member of the Royal Horticultural Society. There are plans to widen the A3 near Wisley. The widening could either be to the east or west of the existing A3. One of these could result in Wisley Gardens losing 10,000 square metres of land and over 500 trees.
There’s a petition against this, with the link below. Please consider signing it.
Dear……..
I’m getting in touch with you as a valued RHS member who lives near RHS Garden Wisley, and one who I hope enjoys visiting the beautiful garden.
We are worried that some potential Highways England plans could cause irreversible damage to Wisley in the future and hope you might help us to protect this very special and much loved place.
As you may be aware, plans are now being finalised to improve the M25 Junction 10 interchange and widen the A3, which is something we support in principle. One of the possibilities being considered by Highways England, in terms of widening the A3 only, could see over 10,000 sq. metres of RHS Garden Wisley grabbed and over 500 trees destroyed.
There are currently two options available to Highways England to widen the A3: one on the east side of the A3 and one on the west.
The RHS has carried out expert highway studies and is calling on the Government Agency to choose the east option, which does not grab woodland from the Garden, would not fell any of these 500 important trees, and would better improve road access to Wisley.
If Highways England decide that widening the west side is the preferred option then irreplaceable historic trees that are over 100 years old, and still have centuries more to live, could be eliminated for a short-sighted road improvement scheme, which would increase air pollution and noise pollution and destroy the habitats of a wide range of wildlife and the beauty of the garden.
Five trees that would potentially be lost are identified as threatened and endangered in cultivation by Plant Heritage’s Threatened Plants Project. Excellent specimens of giant redwood (Sequoiadendron giganteum) would also be at risk.
We’re also concerned that some proposals for the A3 would involve additional travel for our visitors to get to Wisley, some adding over 6 kilometres to the journey, which is unacceptable. We need our garden to be as accessible as possible for everyone, especially with our major investment plans to make the garden better than ever before and to welcome more visitors. Therefore more direct access to and from the A3 to Wisley is vital and must also be a key consideration for Highways England as they consider their preferred option to safeguard to future of this very special place, which millions of people enjoy over the years.
If you are also worried about the potential destruction of these 500 beautiful trees and impact this will have on RHS Garden Wisley please show your support and sign our petition:

You could also write to the Rt Hon Chris Grayling MP, Secretary of State for Transport, Department for Transport, Great Minster House, 33 Horseferry Road, London, SW1P 4DR and voice your concerns. We have drafted a template letter for you in case that is helpful (https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/wisley/Articles/Wisley-under-threat-Template-letter), and please feel free to amend as you wish. If you would like to you could also write to your local paper or national newspapers.
You can also find more information about the scheme, with images of the area that is under threat at
https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/wisley/Articles/Wisley-under-threat-from-A3-plans
We’re currently investing over £70 million into RHS Garden Wisley in horticulture, new laboratories, learning buildings and visitor facilities, making the garden an even more important centre for science, and an even more wonderful place to visit.
Any damage to RHS Garden Wisley would be wholly unnecessary and I would greatly appreciate your support for our Garden.
All the best and hope you can come to see us at Wisley soon.

Business account listings (Edited)
I've set up a ScoopLoop account for my computer support business (Phoenix IT).
https://www.scooploop.com/business/computer-repair-and-support/phoenix-it .
I've been discussing various options with the site admin who mentioned that you can use HTML code in the description box. So I've been experimenting and it works well.
If you're setting up a business account here you may find it worth trying.
What's a collective noun for users of this site?
I've been wondering what we should use as a collective name for users of this site....
ScoopLoopers?
Scoopers?
Loopers?
What do you think?
Any other suggestions?
Business and personal ScoopLoop accounts (Edited)
I have two ScoopLoop accounts - one for personal use under my own name and one for my business, Phoenix IT.
I found it a bit of a pain to have to log out of one account and into the other, so I've started using two browsers.
I use Chrome for my personal ScoopLoop account and Opera for my business ScoopLoop account.
I have two shortcuts on my desktop and I've set up the targets in their link properties to automatically open ScoopLoop
I've allowed Chrome to save one set of login details and Opera to save the other.
It makes life easier so I thought that other ScoopLoopers might also find it useful.
You could use any two browsers so Firefox, Intenet Explorer, Edge and so on would work as well.
Ooh hope this gets off the ground - how can we spread the word? I'm still missing Streetlife and Nextdoor is just not the same! I just tried to click on Friends & Loop to see what that would do but the page is broken.
