Panic buying/stock piling/ isolation
I know this is being criticised [and rightly so] but ...
if you can't get the things you want in the shops and have to go out daily to search for things and when you find them they are rationed how can you self isolate/stay indoors for several weeks without the things you need. -
Some good news (possibly) and/or clutching at straws (copied over from Saving the Planet)
'strict confinement measures in China, where the coronavirus outbreak began, and in Italy, Europe’s most affected nation, have led to falls in air pollution as fewer vehicles are driven and industrial emissions fall. A preliminary calculation by a US expert suggests that tens of thousands of premature deaths from air pollution may have been avoided by the cleaner air in China, far higher than the 3,208 coronavirus deaths.'

Somewhere there's a website which is uploading posters for you to download and print free of charge. They will design one free if you tell them what you need. Unfortunately, I can't get the link to work...I suspect it's overloaded. If I get a working link I will post it.
I would think quite a lot of us are capable of making our own. -
I've heard about a scam - can't find anything on line yet - people are knocking at doors and saying they are from the local health authority and they are visiting to carry out mandatory corona virus testing.

Marsden March 2020 (Edited)
On Sunday May 3rd this year I'll be taking part in the Marsden March, a 15 mile sponsored walk to raise money for the Marsden cancer charity.
Several of my friends on Scooploop donated to my Marsden March 2018 and 2019 fundraising and I hope that many of you will consider donating to my 2020 fundraising.
The March starts near the near the Marsden Hospital in Chelsea and ends at the Marsden Hospital in Sutton, passing along Fulham Road, down Putney High Street, over Wimbledon Common, on to Raynes Park and through King George's Playing Fields. Then through Nonsuch Park and Belmont, to the hospital in Sutton.
Since 2011 the march has raised over 13 million pounds with every penny going towards funding state-of-the-art equipment, ground-breaking research, and creating the very best patient care.
This incredible amount has helped The Royal Marsden to revolutionise the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and improve the lives of people affected by cancer, across the UK and around the world.
This year the target is to raise £2 million for a very special cause - to help build the Oak Cancer Centre.
This brand-new centre in Sutton will help the Marsden to speed up the development of life-saving treatments and ensure they can be there for everyone who needs them.
The website of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity gives a lot of detail about the march at
https://www.royalmarsden.org/support-us/marsden-march
This will be the third time I've taken part in the Marsden March. Last year I completed the walk in just over four hours and raised over £300 for the Marsden. This year I'd like to beat 4 hours and raise more money than last year.
I've set up a just giving page at:
https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thebanhammarsdenmarch2020-tonylang
Over the years I've lost a lot of friends and relatives to assorted types of cancer, so I'd like to raise as much money as I can for the charity. So please dig deep and donate as much as you can to this fantastic cause.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. -

Hello from Edward! (Edited)
Just thought this 'little fellow' will bring a smile to your face!
I was browsing in a charity shop last week when I spotted him peering up at me from a box of toys and at 99p a bargain!
Edward is enjoying his new home and his little face makes me smile in my kitchen. There is nothing better than a teddy, however old you are, lol Click on him to enlarge. -
How Does one deal with elderly relatives with dementia and this Coronavirus? (Edited)
Is anyone else in a position where they are caring for an elderly relative with dementia like I am? how are we supposed to deal with it if that person gets Coronavirus or suspected to have it as they can’t care for themselves so can’t self isolate. And if they can’t look after themselves they still need daily care to go into them.. but obviously then anyone be it a paid Carer or relative going in will then be at risk of getting the virus and then spreading around.. I’m so confused & feeling stressed to how to deal with this situation if it arises?

International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day (IWCBD) is an annual event aimed to unite women brewmasters around the world and to raise awareness of women working in the brewing profession. The event is held on March 8 to coincide with International Women’s Day.
IWCBD was conceived by Sophie de Ronde in 2013 as a way to fight against sexism and gender bias in a traditionally male-dominated industry. She contacted the Pink Boots Society (PBS), a non-profit organization which supports women working in the brewing industry, and found support there.
The inaugural IWCBD event was held on March 8, 2014. Over 60 women brewmasters in five different countries participated by simultaneously brewing the same recipe of craft beer, Unite pale ale. The next year, there were 80 participants from 11 countries who brewed Unite red ale.
IWCBD is more than just another awareness day. It is also a chance for women brewmakers from different countries to network with one another, as well as a charity event that helps raise money for the Pink Boots Society and local charities. Since its inception, it has made a great contribution to normalizing the idea that women can successfully work in the brewing industry. -

Heathrow decision did not take Climate Agreements into account - Court rules
The government decision to give the go-ahead to Heathrow Airport's plans to build a third runway was unlawful, a court has ruled.
The court case was brought by environmental groups, councils and the Mayor of London.
The court said the government would not appeal against the judgement.
But the judges said that in future, a third runway could go ahead, as long as it fits with the UK's climate commitments.
The Court of Appeal found that the government had not followed UK policy when backing the controversial expansion plans.
It said that the government had a duty to take into account the Paris climate agreement, which seeks to limit global warming.

Can you get pregnant in a swimming pool?
Not by the obvious method.
There's a rumour going roiund social media that if there is sperm in the pool and a woman swims through it, she can get impregnated.
Think its as likely as the tales that kids used to tell about your can get pregnant by kissing.
