Post code areas quiz – A and B

There are 12 UK post code areas in the UK which are represented by or begin with either A or B. Can you name the area post codes and/or the city or town from which each is derived? Number of guesses limited to 12 codes and 12 cities/towns. One clue – there are only 2 area codes that begin with A. No use of reference material or the internet to ensure fair play. Good luck.

REMEMBER - NO POSTS instead you PM me with your guesses any time up to midnight tonight. If possible, please wait until you've completed all the guesses you want to make to avoid too many PMs and to make my job easier. So no hurry and it doesn't matter when you submit the answers because I'll be judging them solely on who has the most correct - and in the event of two or more being level it will be a tie. Feel free to change your mind on an answer you may have already given. I hope this is clear and good luck. Tomorrow I’ll post the names of the top entries.

New quiz – Freeview TV channels

Here’s a new style quiz we can try out as mentioned yesterday. The challenge for you is to provide a list of 10 Freeview TV channels that contains ones that you think others may be less likely to choose. The winner would be the person whose list contains the most channels that no-one else has chosen. No use of reference material or the internet to ensure fair play. Good luck.

      New idea for a quiz

I've been thinking of introducing a new type of quiz but it would only work with several participants. So I thought I would sound it out.
You will all be familiar with Pointless I'm sure. Loosely based on this, for the quiz I would invite you to name 10 examples of something (such as English counties or Elvis films for example). The idea would be to list examples that you think others may be less likely to choose. The winner would be the person whose list contains the most examples that no-one else has chosen.
So do please let me know if this idea appeals.

      Demonyms (South America) quiz

In this quiz, you have to guess the demonym for each of the listed countries and territories in South America. A demonym is the word used to denote the natives or inhabitants of a particular country, state or territory etc – for France the answer would be French for example. I’m looking for the official names and not slang. Where there are two official demonyms for a particular country either can be accepted. I suspect most will be easy but a few may need some thought. No use of reference material or the internet of course to ensure fair play. Good luck and I hope you will enjoy.

Name the recording artists beginning with E

A music-based quiz today covering the 1950s to the modern day. Below are 25 pairs of songs, each pair being top 30 UK hits for the same recording artist(s) – you have to name them.

You have two big clues to each pair of songs – the year they were hits and the fact that every artist(s)’ name begins with the letter E. To clarify, the E will be the first letter of the name on the record with the one exception of groups starting with The. So, for example, Cliff Richard would be regarded as beginning with C but The Shadows would be regarded as beginning with S. Some easy but some more difficult. No internet use of course.

I hope this is clear and good luck. Tomorrow I’ll post the names of the top entries.

      Interesting fact

The reason that conjoined twins were once called "Siamese twins" is because of Cheng and Eng Bunker, born in Siam (modern-day Thailand) in 1811. In 1829, the twins traveled to the United States and toured the country, becoming rich and famous in the process. After a decade of touring, they settled in North Carolina, where they became American citizens, bought slaves, married local sisters, and fathered 21 children.
