Clair is a 50 year old divorced teacher. She creates a fake Facebook account calling herself Clara, using someone else’s photo and saying she is 24. She does this to get to her former young lover through his friend Alex. It backfires.
Through her visits to her therapist we hear how this online relationship becomes intense with the pair having an online fake affair. Alex desperately wanting to meet Clara for real. She makes repeated excuses not to meet him but knows she has fallen in love with him.
A brilliant film which could be seen as a warning to those who make false accounts or pretend they are someone they are not. Quite funny in places but billed as a romance/drama
Juliet Binoche is as always superb as the story builds to its climax !
The last half hour with its twists and turns is compelling.
The last scene did made us laugh, when I suppose it shouldn’t have done 😬
