The government has committed to make it mandatory for banks to reimburse victims of bank transfer scams.
This is a huge win for our campaign. Currently, only banks signed up to a voluntary code must give victims their money back – but even then, the majority are doing a shoddy job.
This legislative change will force the banks to do more to protect their customers from fraud, or rightfully return the victim’s money when they fail to do so.
