When a UK friend turns out to be abroad

I found contact details for a long-lost but UK-based friend the other day and called her mobile number, which was a lovely surprise for her. But she told me that she was in Hungary at that point, so that the call should be cut short as it would be extremely expensive.
It doesn't seem easy to find out what the charges may be for accidentally making a call to a UK 'phone whose user is abroad. This can't be the same as a roaming charge for using one's mobile 'phone while oneself abroad but what is this called (if it has a name)?
I use 1pmobile, whose website is effectively blocked by cookies, so I can't find anything relevant.
