We gotta lota trees
We’ve joined the likes of Toronto, New York City and Paris to be celebrated as a ‘tree city of the world’.
Although we’re not a city, we’ve been recognised by the international programme which celebrates places across the world that meet standards for the care and planning of urban trees and forests.
We currently have more than 74,000 trees across the borough and around 9,000 trees line the streets of Barking and Dagenham.
The news comes after Barking and Dagenham was also gifted 272 trees from the government’s Urban Tree Challenge Fund and the Mayor of London’s Greener City Fund.
