The deadline has been set. In a significant win for our End Dangerous Products campaign, all manufacturers must stop making plastic-backed fire-risk fridge freezers for sale across the EU by 11 July.
When the new safety standard comes in, these potentially dangerous machines won’t pass the test. Flammable plastic backing can dramatically accelerate the spread of flames in the event of a fire in your home.
Putting a stop to these machines is a massive win for our campaign, and it’s thanks to people like you who continue to support and challenge the system.
We expect retailers to stop selling them immediately. And we’ll keep an eye out for anyone flogging them cheaply to get rid of existing stock. Read more about the refrigeration saga and let us know if you see any discounted models.
