UK Grandparents' Day
Grandparents' Day was established in the United Kingdom by the charity Age Concern (it merged with Help the Aged in 2008 and now it's known as Age UK) in 1990. Since 2008 it's annually celebrated on the first Sunday in October.
Grandparents' Day is a perfect day for all grandmothers and grandfathers to spend a day with their grandchildren, if they don't see each other on a regular basis. Grandparents may involve their grandchildren in a number of interesting events: take them to a zoo or organize a family reunion BBQ. When everyone is tired of noisy events, take some rest and look at family photos.
Parents should encourage their children to make special card, a present or even a cake (with the help of adults, of course) for Grandparents' Day. This will make your Grandparents' Day perfect and your family will always remember it.
