Tonga volcano
An undersea volcano near the island of Tonga erupted a few days ago sending an ash cloud 20 miles high. The explosion broke the undersea communications cable that was Tonga's only connection to the outside world. The ash has destroyed every home on some of the smaller islands and the tsunami has caused chaos on the main island. Also the ash has made all water undrinkable as Tongan's collect rainwater as their only source of fresh water.
One of the first victims was a British woman who was running a dog rescue charity.
Help is on the way from New Zealand by ship as the airport has been put out of action.
