The Cobbler
Surprise to me and a good one.
A fantasy film with a 'magic' mechanical stitching machine. Sounded ludicrous.
But it certainly wasn't for kids.
At times funny and poignant, clever and well written.
Shoes repaired on the machine were stepped into and turned the wearer (Adam Sandler) into the owner of the shoes (walking in their footsteps). He eventually used this for good but in the meantime got into some awful scrapes. Just watch everyone wearing the red scarf!
The film got even better when Dustin Hoffman arrived (one of my favourite actors)
Yes, it did bring a tear to my eyes. More than once. Brilliantly different.
