Loughborough Junction, Brixton, Part II
However there is much more to find in that area than the popular press pretends it is ( which always refers to the area as a drug and crime spot )
Here are some fotos I made this morning on my way to work.
Fotos:
- Jamaican shops in Coldharbour Lane
- The "super slim" building was constructed like this because of the railway line crossing the old victorian area.
- The train station after which the area is named ( and two of the 7 railway bridges )
- The actual "junction", a crossroad between three railway bridges, with loughborough estate in the background
( the broken shop frond is the location of a former "David Greig" supermarket, ( David Greig opened his first shop down the road from here in 1870 )
- Clockwork Studios, founded in 1900 (I think), formerly Fred Karno’s Vaudeville theatre group ( people like Charlie Chaplin and Stan Laurel used to practise there)
- The Art Bridge in Cambria Road ( designed by local artists in 2014 )
