Does crushing up pills change their effectiveness?
These are pills for my dog. She gets a skin allergy in the summer. She has one pill per day divided into half in the morning and half in the evening.
In the morning I give her half the pill wrapped in a bit of cold meat. This week its liver sausage. I then starve her all day as my sister visits so we can have dinner together.
She has been volunteering to give the dog the other half pill hidden in her bowl of dog food. I would've just put the pill on top, pushed it in a bit and covered it. So the dog should eat it in the first mouthfull.
But she told me yesterday that she crushes the pill into powder and sprinkles it over the dog food before giving it one more mix to hide it.
