Benefits cheat gets DWP job
A man who was jailed in 2014 for overstaying his visa, forging a right to work document and claiming £50k in benefits was given a job processing universal credit claims.
He said he did nothing wrong as the DBS said he didn't have to declare anything older than 5 years.
This isn't always true. If a conviction leads to a jail sentence it should show up on a DBS no matter how long ago.The fact that he didn't declare it shouldn't have stopped the police from including it, so the fact it came back clear is worrying!
He has now been dismissed for a reason unrelated to this apparently
