A bit of keep fit with a smile
I would like to recommend an exercise class on Saturday mornings at 10.45 for an hour at St Johns United Reformed Church on Mowbray Road, New Barnet (between Somerset Road and Station Road). The class costs just £6 a session. The instructor, Rowena, delivered some flyers a year ago and her leaflet attracted my husband's attention because the exercises were described as 'low to medium impact' so he decided to go along and absolutely loved it. Second time around he persuaded me to go along - me - not interested, too lazy though I did have my own little way of keeping fit. Well, I've been going along ever since because it's a hoot, you leave smiling and you get fit along the way. The class is predominantly aerobics to music devised by Darcey Bussell (now Dame Darcey, of course) with some floor-work towards the end (well, muscle-stretching and so on). Anyway, you don't have to be mega-fit - my arm/leg co-ordination was rubbish (it's still a work in progress) and my husband is partially disabled so there you go. So, if you want to try and reduce a few post-Christmas wobbly bits or just get a bit fitter then this might be the class for you! Just bring an exercise mat if you have one and a bottle of water (Rowena normally has a couple of spare mats and there is a kitchen for tap-water). Rowena is an accredited instructor/teacher and if you wish to contact her then her number is 07710 972517.
