FREE Digital Arts Classes for the over 55s
Hi Neighbours,
We, at Community Focus, are running a 12-week FREE Digital Inclusion programme for the over 55s with support from Barnet Council's Community Innovation Fund. Over the last six weeks, we've been leading Digital Skill workshops, helping older adults learn basic digital skills, and now we are about the enter the second half of the project: DIGITAL ART.
We are currently recruiting new students to join these Digital Art workshops.
Our Digital Art workshops will take place every Thursday from 09 September - 14 October. We have both online and in-person classes available.
In-person sessions at Friary House are 11am - 1pm, and the Online session (via Zoom) is 1.30 - 3pm.
Artwork created during these workshops will also be exhibited in November.
If you have to work from home/online then we can provide an iPad to borrow if needed.
It's a great opportunity for anyone interested.
If you'd like to register your interest or for more information please email: gcooper@communityfocus.co.uk or give us a ring on 020 3743 2326. -
Free Digital Skills Workshop for over 55s.
We, at Community Focus (an Arts Centre and Charity in Barnet), are providing FREE Digital Skill workshops for the over 55s with the support of Barnet Council's Community Innovation Fund. We are currently recruiting students.
There are places in-house at Friary House, and online. The course provides basic IT skills, with a follow-up digital arts course (and exhibition) to help with providing a memorable approach to learning. If students must work from home/online, then we can provide a device for them to borrow.
It's a great opportunity. Please see the flyer attached for dates and times. If you have any questions please get in touch.
Thanks. -
Try to Help your Neighbours out @ this difficult time
When we last had the snow, i went down the street to an elderly sister couple & asked them if they needed anything. One shopping list later & a trip to Waitrose and back, left them very happy. Going to do the same tomorrow.
Disabled/Pensioners are so grateful for that little help in these conditions
Would be great if we could all do our bit :-) -
Social Meet Up (Edited)
Next Real Life North London Community Social Gathering is less than 2 weeks away!
DATE: Sunday 19 November 2017 @ 12 noon till 4 pm or when it ends (which is normally a bit later) @ The Arnos Arms
Address: 338 Bowes Rd, Arnos Grove, London N11 1AN (old harvester)
Next to Arnos Grove Tube Station and several bus stops and ample street parking.
I shall be there at 12; it'll be great if you would like to join me or for brunch/lunch or just come for drinks. Whichever option you take, it's guaranteed to be an enjoyable experience.
Put the date in your diaries and hope to see you there - all welcome, near or far, Londoner or not :)
Update: There will be an identifying sign to help you find us in the pub itself: a Russian doll on the table we are gathered around.

Delphiniums still repeat flowering in my garden! With about 8 stalks still waiting to burst into flower, breathtaking :-)

Against landfill? Olio food & objects sharing app
Olio is a fantastic app which connects you to other like minded people who have excess food which you can share locally, also much food is donated by cafe's/restaurants & supermarkets on their sell by date or just over, often on the night of a restaurant closing for the day, which they can't sell. You connect to a representive & request it.. or give away & somebody else requests it.. Simples. Download the App and see who's helping to recycle in your area, give it a go
