So like many business we also took advantage of the governments bounce back loan during these trying times, but it now appears this was a double edged sword.
having applied for a mortgage for my first property i have been told that because my business participated in the government scheme i will likely be refused my mortgage or will have to pay much higher rates.
The loan is still siting in our business account and continues to served the purpose of backup as it was intended for.
As always they help with one hand and slap you with the other.
Anyway rant over, but do be carefully with what you apply for or intend to apply for. -

The theme for Gas Safety Week 2018 is Family Matters; raising the profile of gas safety in the home as well as the importance of having appliances serviced properly to protect those you love. Would you use late-evening buses between Waltham Cross and Debden?
Epping Forest Transport Action Group (EFTAG) are trying to find out potential passenger numbers for two proposed late evening bus services.
The services would run from Waltham Cross to Loughton via Waltham Abbey and Upshire at 10.15 and 11.15pm, Mon - Sat, returning via Debden approximately 30 minutes later.
If you'd be likely to use the services, whether for work, socialising, caring for family and friends or for any other reason could you please complete this quick survey?

The Waltham Abbey Litter Picking Posse
Hi,
I'm starting up a litter picking group in Waltham Abbey. The plan is to head out once a month, probably on a Saturday, and pick litter!
I'm going to ask the Town Council and Town Partnership for help with equipment but we need some more volunteers first.
If you'd like to get involved please join the Facebook group or, if you don't use Facebook, register with our page on the CPRE's LitterAction site.

Plastic's Not Fantastic in Waltham Abbey
Hi,
Like a lot of people I was given a kick up the bum by Blue Planet II to actually try to do something about plastic use.
To that end I've started a campaign for Epping Forest Green Party - Plastic's Not Fantastic in Epping Forest - which aims to reduce plastic use in our district.
We've got off to a good start, with Waltham Abbey Town Council agreeing to support the campaign and a lot of Sun Street and Highbridge Street's small businesses keen to get involved too.
It's still early days for the campaign though and we need your help. If you've any ideas or can help out; if you'd like somebody to speak to your community group; if you're a small business that could do with advice please get in touch.
For more information please visit the dedicated section of our website: http://efgp.org.uk/plastics -

Hi there,
Essex County Council plan to cut funding for the 250 and 251 bus services from Monday - Saturday, leaving Waltham Abbey with no bus services after about 7.30pm.
The consultation closes on Monday 3rd July.
Click here for more info and a link to the consultation: http://efgp.org.uk/ecc250251
The link goes to a local Green Party site - I'm working on something for the non-party political Epping Forest Transport Action Group (EFTAG) too but it will be a few days before that's ready. -
Do you have some time to volunteer and help young people?
We have lots to offer at ESSA Water Actiivities Centre both on land and on the water. If you want to go out on the water we will train you to enable you assist our volunteer Instructors with groups of young people who can learn to sail dinghies & windsurf boards, paddle a canoe, kayak, dragon boat, katakanu or our wobble boards.
There is plenty to do to keep the centre running, so if you can do DIY or good at making cups of tea to keep our volunteers going, just come along on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 to have a chat about what we do.
Have a look at our website www.essa.org.uk to see what our charity offers to young people.
We are on the Central Lagoon, Meadgate Road, Nazeing, EN9 2PB 07773 449205 OR email essa_info@yahoo.co.uk -
