40 years ago today the legendary Marvin Gaye was tragically killed at the hands of his father.
Previously unheard recordings have been uncovered in Belgium.

Amazingly I heard on Channel 4 news that previously unheard jazz recordings have been discovered in the US.
A true icon.
Son of Lauryn Hill and grandson of Bob Marley. Very reminiscent of his grandfather’s style.

I used to like Sam Smith but the stage he seems to have been in recently has sickened me and the wording of the song Unholy , is well, more than unholy. This is a ‘Christian’ version of the song by Becka Shae and whilst I am not posting it for its Christian content I think it is greatly enhanced and find Becka’s voice stunning
Maybe posted before but something reminded me of it today 😂

After Charlotte’s mention of the Judd family I mentioned them to my wife who is a fan of country music and she directed me to the recording of their final concert

Which includes the Jordanaires backing them
at about 13 minutes in whilst they sang Elvis’s don’t be cruel
A group of the least macho men and their video still makes me smile

The funniest comment was someone who said until recently they had always thought the title was Nacho man 🧍♂️

Amazing 6 wins at the Brits last night for Raye

What an utter professional and talented singer she has turned out to be
Nominated for a Brit award tonight (international band) sadly no win
Jacob’s range is phenomenal

Steve Wright DJ 🥲 (Edited)
Just heard the awful and very unexpected news about Steve.
On his pre-recorded show on Sunday he was joking that Dusty Springfield was like his Aunty Marion and now he’s gone 😢😢
BBC sounds have already compiled a tribute to him
Always makes the most remarkable videos and this is my favourite , excuse the bad language though

A most interesting listen......
Paul McCartney "Inside the songs" on Radio 4. I am listening on an Ipad podcast.
He talks very movingly about the death of John Lennon and his relationship with John.
This was the fake or trial
run for the real thing that happened at the Grammys just a few days ago

Melanie (Edited)
As you may have heard Melanie passed away earlier this week - on the 25th Anniversary of Buddy’s death 🥲

Buddy Holly died before I was born but I loved all his music and on Saturday 3rd February it was the 65th Anniversary of his untimely death.
BBC Sounds now have a tribute to him, very touching, hearing him, his manager, his wife speaking and presented by Bob Harris .
Just ask for Buddy Holly on the app to hear it I couldn’t put a link but this is the show

Something a bit different. The lead singer was on Breakfast this morning talking about a stroke he had.

The BBC had an evening devoted to the late great Aretha Franklin on Thursday. It featured the film Respect, her life story with Mary J Blige playing the lead role. It also showed stage concerts spanning her long career. A true icon.
Notsure if this may have already been posted but it's brilliant.
