Going old school and, as a little homage to my mum, got the ingredients to make her sherry trifle using tinned fruit cocktail, Birds custard powder, sherry, double cream. Couldn’t find a simple jam Swiss roll ( found some with jam and buttercream but my mum wouldn’t approve of the latter!) so I’ve got sponge fingers. She never used jelly in her trifle. We only had it at Christmas so it was a rare treat.
