"September Meeting - Wednesday 11th September

    CRAFTIVIST

This month we will be hearing from Sarah Corbett, who is an award-winning activist, author and founder of the global 'Craftivist Collective. She grew up in a low-income area of the UK into an activist family and has worked as a professional campaigner for over a decade, most recently with Oxfam GB. Sarah started doing craftivism (craft + activism) in 2008 to add a different tool of activism into the toolkit - a form of slow, quiet and intimate effective activism she calls "Gentle Protest".
We will hear all about how Sarah set up Craftivist Collective and how her work has helped change government laws, business policies as well as hearts and minds.
We will also be getting a bit crafty ourselves, with a craftivist workshop.

As always, we would welcome anyone who could come a bit early to help set up, or stay for a few minutes afterwards to help tidy away.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!

Tooting WI meet every second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm
at Holy Trinity Church, Trinity Road, Tooting.
You can see our upcoming meetings check out our blog posts about previous meetings on FaceBook and Twitter. "
