Event: Manchester Christmas Markets (17 November–23 December 2018)
Start Date: 23.12.2018. Start Time: 11:00
Location: Manchester Christmas Markets at Albert Square, City Centre
You’ll be able to explore over 300 stalls in ten different locations across the city. Albert Square remains the main hub, opposite the town hall, but you’ll also find them in St Anne’s Square, Cathedral Gardens and many more areas around the city, including King Street, Market Street and Exchange Street.
This is the nineteenth consecutive year the markets have come to Manchester
This is the nineteenth consecutive year the markets have come to Manchester, so they’re clearly doing something very right indeed. Expect wooden huts with mulled wine, a giant Santa illuminated by 100,000 LED lightbulbs, festive mugs featuring mistletoe and reindeer noses (you pay a deposit so you can either keep these or return for a refund), hot chocolates and bustlings crowds all full of Christmas cheer.
But it’s not all classic Christmas fare, there are plenty of food traders plying all kinds of wares, such as halloumi fries or even a Yorkshire pudding wrap. If you’re looking for Christmas gifts, here’s your one-stop shop for everything you need – gourmet cheeses, gins, jewellery, fridge magnets, not mention cured meats and gingerbread bread houses.
Obviously, the weekends are the busiest times so if you’re not a fan of crowds stick to midweek trips. But above all, don’t forget your Christmas jumper.
