Organ donation law changed today
From today it's assumed you are happy to donate your organs when you die. You have to opt out if you don't want to donate.
Has anybody any input regarding electric wheelchairs to be used outside. Thank you.
Fruit Pickers Needed (Edited)
Will any of the Brexit voters on here be doing their patriotic duty and pick much needed fruit and veg now all the Johny Foreigner types they didnt want here no longer want to help us in our hour of need.
Was too hot to walk home with my essential food shopping today so got the bus back. Now I totally understand them putting tape across to keep people away from the driver. But on today's bus some of the pairs of seats were blocked off by string. It seemed to be totally random which ones were blocked off. Couldn't see the point of it. Don't bus drivers trust passangers to not sit next to each other, or directly behind.
A more sensible idea would be block off every other row of 4.
I'm taking scissors with me next time.
Real Marigold Hotel (Edited)
This has been another good series so far. You have to overlook the pretense that well known retirees are really going to upsticks from the UK and spend the rest of their life in India.
This year they are all stayng at a Haveli in Pondicherry ( Pudacherry) called Gratitude. I looked it up expecting it to be expensive but its only 4 lakh rupees to stay there. That's only £40 a night. Looks a nice place for a holiday.
The Eurovision Song Contest would've been on tonight. All the artists that would've performed have the option to return next year but have to perform a diffeerent song. Don't think our song, My Last Breath by John Newman, stood a chance. Having heard 30 seconds of each song most of them are better or more catchy than ours.
This one would've got my vote.

Live football is back on free to view television.
The Bundesliga on BT Sport.
Currently all sports channels are free because of the loss of live sport.
Wonder how long before Sky and Virgin start charging again. Hopefully not until UK sports starts.
I am catching up on quite a few old recorded programs. Advise: when shopping on Amazon it is worth looking at foreign websites as sometimes great savings can be located.
Just to let everyone know who loves this programme that the wonderful David Olusoga is back with another 'A house through time'..........BBC2 Tuesday the 26th of this month. I for one can't wait, fascinating!
Yesterday there were only 24 new cases of Covid-19 in London.. The R is down to 0.4. I reckon by June life will be back to the real normal.
The non-politician on Question Time last night had some good points. He said people are getting obsessed with wanting everything to be 100% safe before they go back to their previous way of life, school, work etc. He said 100% safe is impossible and we may have to get used to living with the virus around us.
I think it's because Europe has not had to live with something deadly before. We need to learn to be more like Africans and Asians who get on with their lives knowing there's Malaria, Ebola, Dengue Fever and deadly snakes.
Silly virus news item. Police are threatening to caution people who step into the road to avoid other pedestrians on the footpath.
Does anyone know what is going to happen for the over 75 years? Has it been put on hold as not yet received any details. ---They always quicker on fining people rather then explanations.
Have just noticed that on a lot of comments the posters location is missing - it just says the distance away, I wonder why.

You can view peoples houses that are for sale.
You can have tradespeople come to your house.
You can play golf - but only with one other person
You can be a passenger in another persons car but only if you both have the windows open and don't look at each other.
...with the belt the wrong way.
Got a new pair of belted chinos from Jacamo. Fit perfectly so could wear without the belt. Went to do up belt and realised they had threaded it the wrong way. They had the buckle on my right, which is wrong.
The Breakfast team were talking to Luca Vialli in a video call this morning when Louise Munchkin noticed the game of Perudo on the bookshelves behiind. She said, "is that Perudo behind you. Love playing that with the family." Luca replies "yes, we do as well".
I'm thinking, never even heard of the game.
Anyone?
Your thoughts on where you think we will be number wise in 2/3 weeks
I personally feel things have been relaxed too early and I think the number by 3 weeks will rise as today we’re at 3400 new cases which is down admittedly but 621 deaths still. I think the numbers of both the cases and the deaths will definitely be up by three weeks time… Who actually thinks the numbers will continue to go down Over the coming weeks now that people are being allowed out a lot more and do you think the R number will stay the same get lower or get higher?

‘Cats’ will be available on YouTube for 48 hours starting May 15 at 7pm BST (2pm EDT, 4am AEST), except for in the UK, where it will be available for 24 hours only.
Warning about scam (Edited)
------Just a reminder. ------Had it happen to me in the past few days.----twice--- did wonder why I had not heard the phone. Checked on "who called" and copied the following.
What are scams using missed calls and text messages from unknown numbers?
Missed call scams start by ringing your phone and hanging up so quickly that you can’t answer the call in time. Your phone registers a missed call and you probably won’t recognise the number. People will often then call the number back to find out who it is. Apart from being a nuisance, the missed call can lead to a scam in two ways
The number you call back may be redirected to a premium rate service (a number that starts with 09) without your knowledge, which means you will be charged a lot of money per minute.
The number may tell you that you have won a prize of some sort and give you another number to call to ‘claim’ your prize, but they may not tell you how much the call will cost. This second number may be a premium rate number, again charging you a lot of money to get your prize.
edited ----missed a part
Text message scams work by sending you a text message from a number you may not recognise, but the content of the message could sound like it’s from a friend—for instance "Hi, it’s John. I’m back! When do you want to catch up?" or "Hey big fella, happy birthday!". Another common tactic is for a text message to sound like someone flirting with you. Many people reply asking who it is and end up engaging in a lengthy SMS exchange with the scammer. Only later do they find out that they have been charged a high rate both for messages they sent (sometimes there are also charges for messages received as well).

Something positive with fairy tale ending. (Edited)
Watched a recording from a few months ago. "Flat for free" . Property owner remembering when young his mother and he sitting on a bench in park and having nowhere to go offered "one" flat for free and had over 80.000 requests. Choosing 3 people he gave a nearly blind woman the deposit to buy her own property, a homeless father and two sons a place to stay and the freehold of the flat to a young girl who had a baby when 18 and father did not want to know.
Lovely ending and I did have a hanky in my hand. Did anyone else watch the program or do you know of a story with a "nice" ending?

Covid 19 - interesting facts [ copied from else where]
To everyone blaming the government for the COVID-19 death toll surpassing that of Spain and France and calling them incompetent, bear this in mind:
It is possible to change an argument in your favour with statistics even if they are not truly representative. Try looking at it logically and dispassionately.
If you look at the population levels of the 3 countries mentioned, the U.K. has the highest at around 70 million, compared to 66 million in France and 49 million in Spain.
Then look at the size of the area these people are living in : The UK 250,000 km2, France 650,000 km2, Spain 506,000 km2.
Figured it out yet? No?
The U.K. has a population density of 280 people per km2
France has a population density of 102 people per km2
Spain has a population density of 97 people per km2
Know what that means? That means, ( according to figures from google today) the U.K., despite having nearly 3 times (275%) the population density of France and (289%) that of Spain, has death figures which are only 8% more than France and 7.5% more than Spain.
But, it’s easier for the media to use the headline number in order to create the hysteria and panic they are so desperate for to give this story legs, so why let facts get in the way of the narrative.
Wake up people, use your brains, not your emotions.

Would you send your relative to Thailand for dementia care?
https://www.theguardian.com/society/2020/jan/12/families-sending-relatives-with-dementia-to-thailand-for-care
https://www.carewell-service.com/
It's a lot harder decision than going to Hungary to get your teeth fixed. If the only reason is because its cheaper than a UK care home, then it's because you are putting yourself ahead of your relative.
Difficult to imagine someone with dementia coping with getting on a plane for 14 hours and going to live in a home where English is not spoken .
I would want to arrange a short stay of a few weeks first to see how the relative feels about maybe coming back permanently.
Love to see this on UK Masterchef

Planes (Edited)
Great bunch of planes just flew over - something to do with the VE day fly past I expect but a bit early
Sister came round and cooked us a shepherd's pie a few nights ago. I've realised that she hasn't been breaking the lockdown rules from the start as she was here on the evening Boris Johnson made his original broadcast. So she becomes part of the household here and at her flat.
Anyway the shepherd's pie was nice but needed a bit extra. She used Quorn mince and frozen mash potato. I know she added a shepherds pie mix and red onion. What else could she add to spice it up?I was thinking Worcestershire Sauce or even Brown Sauce. Garlic maybe?
There is a range of national commemorations taking place on VE Day this year including two special programmes on BBC One to mark VE Day 75 which will be shown at 2.45pm-3.45pm and 8pm-9.10pm

Five year old caught driving (Edited)
I heard this on BBC News yesterday.
The boy’s mother refused to buy him a Lamborghini, so he borrowed the family car to drive to California and buy one for himself. He hadn’t thought it through, but he did well to get as far as he did.
